Downtown2007 wrote:No I havent yet. Does anyone know why our building isnt illuminated at night with the outside lights? They were on in June but they havent been on for the past month.
I'm not sure. I noticed the same thing a few days ago.
Does anyone have any problems with noise/sound from their neighbors living above or next to them?
I have no neighbors yet but I was going to pose the same question. I hear a lot of noise from the atrium and was wondering how unit to unit noise was.

Hi- I am having some issues with sound from the atrium as well as my neighbors. When I first moved in I did not have any and my first issue was actually from my own stereo. My new neighbors could hear it. Since then I have moved it away from that wall.
Two things that I have noticed is that on the walls which meet up with the brick wall, at night you can sometimes see light from your neighbors room coming through in between the bricks. I think some soundproof caulk needs to be put in there.
Last night, my neighbors kids were having a party and were extremely loud. most of the sound is coming from that spot on the wall.
The atrium, creaks the floors in my unit when someone walks by and when people are hanging around the fountain at night when I am trying to sleep it can be very annoying, like last night when the party was continually walking from the unit to the roof etc.
I absolutely love the building, I just wish those sounds were a little less.

Midcoast, does anyone live above you? Also are the sounds from your neighbor really loan or just faint annoying noises?

Hey guys, I'm just going to give you some freindly advice from one loft owner to another, and just throw out the idea that maybe you want to start a yahoo group for only your residents where you could discuss these kinds of issues. Some of your neighbors may not want all of your building's business out on a public forum like this. It's only a suggestion though, take it for what you will.

If someone wants to set that up. Let me know.
-In response to a post above. I only hear these noises when it is really loud and when I have no TV or any noise coming from my loft.
One question for Ely Residents. Has anyone gotten an electric bill? I have not, just curious...

I am for someone setting one up. I have gotten one for the first 3 weeks of July and it was small.
I have received an electric bill for the last two weeks of July -- quite small.
I've started an Ely Walker Google Group for anyone that is interested:

They've added glass doors for the eastern portion of the retail. Seems to be being built out inside as well. No announcement yet though I don't think.

As I mentioned in another post....If Schnucks moves in at the 10th st Garage spot, City Grocers should move to the eastern half of The Ely Walker bldg. That way both East and West portion of DT will be served by a grocery store. The retail space would be perfect for them.

I agree, but if City Grocers is moving to Ely Walker, it's sure been a well kept secret. As much as I'd hate to lose them in my part of downtown, I'd prefer that they move to Ely rather than have two competing stores side by side.
Whatever happened to the plans for a grocery in that cool old art-deco building just East of the City Museum?

Some sort of lounge going in. I noticed a few days back a notice on the door for a 3 am license. full dumpsters outside too. Even had a name on the notice, but I can't remember. Check it out.
Also...regarding City Grocers in Ely...as previously mentioned, a restaurant was always the main focus with it apparently being connected to Red Moon. With that obviously up in the air, could Orchard change directions and try to lure a grocery.

Orchard was planning a restaurant (and still might be) since Ely Walker's eastermost retail space with skylights seems like a perfect fit for a restaurant and they have even included patio dining space on St. Charles. They have the space listed with Gundaker Commercial and the broker working on the project is looking for any business that can pay the rent. Also, there are actually two retail spaces available at Ely Walker, the 1-story easternmost space, and the space just to the east of the entrance that is about the same size as the English Living/London Tea Room space. I would guess they would even be willing to subdivide it further.

Anyone know how sales are coming along? Did the loft tour generate any sales? I noticed that the building it really filling up but it would be great if they sold the remaining units.

The interior of the other retail space seems to be coming along. It;s huge though, so who knows what'll fill.
I got a sales email from Ely Walker Lofts today.
They have a current promotion where if you buy a loft you'll get a free "42 inch High Depth Television".

The building is filling although I feel like I never see anyone around! Where is everyone hiding???
We do!
I was thinking the other day we need to do trick or treating... Ely Walker style! I'm not sure what, exactly, that is but I bet it'd be fun!!
Downtown2007, are you a member of the Ely Walker GoogleGroup??
