No, it's not open yet. I believe they're now aiming for March. Why the delay? I don't know. The place seems ready to go.

Yeah I could have swore they were open in mid December but it may have been a special event. Let's hope this place isn't operated like the Opheum.
They're probably in a lawsuit with the Roberts Brothers like everyone else. Sorry, it's true. Also, I wish they would sell the American theater, it was WAY better off before when it actually hosted events..
The latest update on Shula's 347 Grill It's looking good but I am not betting the house on it.

I noticed in your blog entry that the chef for Shula's 347 is still in training. Is that what has taken so long for the restaurant to open, or do we have City Hall to thank for the permit process that lasts longer than a pregnant elephant's gestation period?the count wrote:The latest update on Shula's 347 Grill It's looking good but I am not betting the house on it.

I too have a "high impact bar." I keep it tucked behind the driver seat of my car.
Someone try this place out! I can't wait to get back and go...
It's stupid, but since I can remember I've been a HUGE fan of Coach Shula and his year of perfection...I'm not a Dolphins fan, but NFL perfect!! Come on! Will definitely have nothing to do with the steaks, but I can't believe Coach would put his name on anything that isn't good...And I'm quite sure the 'Shula state of mind' will help the steaks and salads taste better (or make you gag but I'll be in 1972 (I was looking down from heaven) enjoying the OPOP and Shula Cut)...
And given the multiple fine steak eateries downtown, indeed, may the best ones win.

Ate there the other night. Good food and a good view out onto OPOP. Your typical upscale "chain" steakhouse. Prime 1000 is still my favorite though, but it is nice to have variety.

Had lunch there today and must say the food was excellent. Had the Sea Bass sandwich with a side of coleslaw and the Creme Brulée for dessert. Others had the Tomato and Mozzarella salad and Shula's Club with the smashed potatoes. Everything was delicious. Prices are upscale but not into the stratosphere. Service was on-point. Patio is coming as they will have 16 tables set up and I expect it to look very nice. Now they just need people. Grand opening is coming and they have a private event to introduce it to the media soon. I will definitely go back.

I've been to the steakhouse in Chicago. I've not had a better steak anywhere. I understand this is a step below the steakhouse, but hopefully just as good. Sounds like it so far.
Apparently the offical opening was 1 June...I haven't been, but have to believe those patio views are really nice...

Will be interesting to see if the market will support it...Earlier this week, we attended a VIP preview of Shula's 347 Grill in The Roberts Tower downtown the night before their official grand opening. At a private dinner with Coach Dave Shula (son of Coach Don Shula), he introduced us to some of their most notable menu items.

Anyone been here yet? I've wanted to go for lunch a few times but it appears they don't have much of a lunch menu? (only what i've heard)
Here is a review from the RFT. It's not the best review but not all that bad either. http://www.riverfronttimes.com/2011-08- ... -the-heat/

I have been there for lunch. It was good but don't remember them having a limited lunch menu. I recommend it
It's good...the space is very nice...and the seating/view on the patio is the best downtown...
looks like it is closed per the P-D. That didn't take long...

That'll happen, I guess, when the property owner is facing financial troubles. I'm sure they were expecting a (almost) fully occupied Roberts Tower, complete with financially-secure tenants, to carry their sales a bit.geilec wrote:looks like it is closed per the P-D. That didn't take long...

Hopefully the Roberts finish the project and Shula's can open back up. I still have big hopes for OPO.

^ At this point it may be better to hope that the tower is foreclosed on and someone gets a good deal and then finishes the project.
^Absolutely. This building needs new owners able to start fresh without a financial chain around their necks. Time for the Roberts Bros. to lick their wounds and retreat.
I find it hard to believe (per the article) that another restaurant is ready to take over the space right now.
