The police say there is body cam footage of the shooting, meaning the story in the media is likely what was viewed on the video. At best, if a officer's shot did kill the women, it would have been while they were in a shootout with the male. But right now there is no real reason to believe that. Certainly not to discredit it in favor of what was likely a woman dealing with the trauma of such an event happening who was not speaking with a clear mind.

5 murders so far in February, we are at 11. This month is turning out to be really violent. I really hope the rest of the month and March are more like last month.

Its always so frustrating when it happens in bunches, especially after a great stretch...

EZ Vape & Smoke Downtown closed after police discover illegal THC sales - First Alert 4 YouTube

This is huge news for improving Downtown safety perceptions. So many problems can be traced back to this shop’s clientele. It really makes the area around the shop uninviting.

Now this is just speculation, but I believe that the known problem of panhandlers around the Culinaria can be ties back to this shop. I think that the clients of EZ Vape panhandle so that they can then purchase wares from that store. I’m quite certain that some of those people shown outside EZ Vape are the same ones I encountered around the Culinaria. The police have known about this issue, since when I was there they had a bike officer posted outside the front door to the Culinaria, and that helped temporarily, but as soon as the officer went inside (not sure why, maybe he was on break), the panhandlers returned almost instantaneously. It was almost humorous to see how they just seemed to come out of the woodwork as soon as the officer disappeared and return to their questionable means of gaining an income. I really hope that EZ. Ape remains closed, they need to attack this problem at its root. It would be much better for everyone involved (well, except the shop owner, but his business preys off of people’s addictions and he chose to sell THC illegally, so I’m not too sympathetic for him).

^Aw man, really? These things are a nuisance!

An update to the story about EZ Vape was released. Apparently the city did revoke their permit, but the owner is appealing it and he reopened the shop because he’s allowed to do that during the appeal process. I don’t see how his appeal will be able to reinstate the permit, his shop was engaging in illegal activity and that should be the end of it.

How To Take Over A City

^A new perspective piece went up on Youtube, talking about why the state really wanted to take over the St Louis Police Department. Thoughts on this?

This young woman was executed waiting for her Starbucks probably on her way to work at either Yellowbelly or Sado or as a skating instructor.

The person who executed her had recently committed multiple GUN crimes. He was not hiding at all. He was everywhere all over South Grand. The failure or refusal of the STL PD to get this guy off the streets is a disgrace.

The failure and refusal of the Missouri State Legislature to take guns seriously is a disgrace.

What about the MO department of corrections releasing this violent pos early multiple times? Seems like a failure at all levels.

Despite a blistering homicide start in February (5 in 3 days), there has been 1 since (11 days ago)

City really needs to start pushing media on the clearance rate. 11 of 14 homicides cleared this year. Everyone should know that the Police find their suspect 80-90% of the time. It should highlight the extensiveness of the surveillance network. Time to communicate that St. Louis isn't friendly to criminals.

Just curious... Do people live (long term stay) at the Red Roof Inn Plus at Hampton & 44?  The interviews on the news seemed to make it appear as if people live there.

Bad day yesterday for the area with the murder at Red Roof & near Arsenal & 44.

STL media serves pearl clutching suburban white bigots. Why would they publish news that’s positive for the city?
