^ I witnessed the lighting tonight from the SLU hospital parking garage. I had some time to kill while waiting on my partner so I drove up to the deserted roof and marveled at the view of the high rise lights stretching from Clayton to downtown. Quite a sight!
I'm okay with the temp - though I completely get why you're not. If these are LEDs, are they able to modulate either color or temperature?flipz wrote: ↑Dec 20, 2023Nice shots. Hate the color temp.

Ah, lovely! Taken from the train heading north off the MacArthur I presume? Great shot!
Great Rivers Greenway has some Leonor K. Sullivan Access Improvements out for bid:
This project consists of the installation of access control devices and roadway improvements at (3) three locations along/near Leonor K. Sullivan Boulevard directly adjacent to the Riverfront.
Project consists of, but not limited to, removal of existing site elements; minor grading and earthwork; minor stormwater improvements; vehicular/pedestrian pavements; site lighting and electrical; site security, including access control and cameras; force protection type barriers, signage and striping; traffic control; minor landscape improvement; and other site related work and includes furnishing all material, labor, tools, equipment, and supervision necessary for the construction of the items herein described.
Looks like some of these will be involved:

^But will the ever reopen the blasted floodgate at Ashley?

I really don't understand what the purpose of the permanently closed floodgates are. Does anybody have insight?
These improvements are just throwing good money after bad if these gates stays closed. The detours to get to the NRT are getting ridiculous.
At this point somebody needs to find a local reporter to get to the bottom of this

I didn't look close enough at the plans (feel free to download them from the planroom), but some of this work is at Carr and LKS, so maybe this work will allow them to reopen the floodgate again?

Is this something that could legitimately happen?
Seems a little far-fetched.

I don't think it looks awful. I think it'd be an interesting structure that would likely instantly become a St. Louis classic.STLEnginerd wrote: ↑Jul 03, 2024but why?framer wrote: ↑Jul 03, 2024Found this on Architizer. More pics and info here:

It would also be shaded, and right there on the riverfront. I think it would attract people.
I just don't think it's likely to happen.

fwiw doing stuff to make the area under the highway usable is fine. I do't think an open plaza cuts the mustard but its fine. But driving across the poplar street bridge there is plenty to look at and admire. Namely the greatest monument built in a modern architectural style in the world. (pretty sure that's accurate, prove me wrong.) We don't need cob webs over the highway there.RockChalkSTL wrote: ↑Jul 03, 2024I don't think it looks awful. BTW if they wanted something similar somewhere els in the city like over the highway at BJC or grand or something, i could be more open to it.

I think there is more to this than an open plaza, but there is a bit more openness than I would like.
It'd be cool to see them add a small network of epic playgrounds or something like that for families to visit.
I don't mind there being more to see as you cross the bridge than just the Arch.

Would the feds even allow this sort of thing to be built over an interstate?
I kinda like it but not enough cover over that bare concrete. Make the nets bigger.
