John Loyd, who has extensive experience in the field, is being hired as a consultant on stadium and design for the riverfront project on the north end of downtown designed to keep the Rams in St. Louis.
...
Additional consultants are expected to be brought on in the weeks ahead.
...
Loyd’s official title on this project will be developer representative. He was among several candidates considered for the job. Loyd, from Orange Beach, Ala., is familiar with St. Louis, having been responsible for the design, construction and cost control of the new Busch Stadium, which opened in 2006.
He had a similar role in a renovation project at Everbank Field, home of the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars, as well as baseball stadium projects in Cleveland, Miami, and Pittsburgh, and basketball arena projects in Cleveland and Oakland.
Good start. I won't really have much confidence this gets done until they've successfully acquired land and had the funding approved.
I'm still torn between what I'm rooting for, of course.

There are more and more online rumors/claims that Friday is the big bad news day.
What does that mean? Like they're just going to announce they're leaving?dweebe wrote:There's more and more online rumors/claims that Friday is the big bad news day.
Yup. Either one last lame duck season or just pay the $250,000 rent for the 10 games and move this year.jstriebel wrote:What does that mean? Like they're just going to announce they're leaving?dweebe wrote:There's more and more online rumors/claims that Friday is the big bad news day.
Can you point me to any of those rumors? Haven't seen anything come through the various places I'd be looking.
LA Rams message boards and Twitter feeds. It's all stuff that sounds like the "My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night." line from Ferris Bueller. But they're all claiming this Friday.jstriebel wrote:Can you point me to any of those rumors? Haven't seen anything come through the various places I'd be looking.

I've seen February 15th as the day in a few places.
Either way, I think the city has been working with the league to keep an NFL team in St. Louis and not necessarily the Rams.

^ Stan will break our hearts on Valentine's Day.
I hope we don't get an NFL team I feel we are paying a billionaire to destroy our history so he can make money
Do you have a link to any of these? A twitter search returned nothing and the LA Rams "fearsome forum" hasn't been updated since September.dweebe wrote:LA Rams message boards and Twitter feeds. Not saying I don't believe you; just want to read some of that for myself.

The best I've been able to find is this:
http://www.forums.mlb.com/discussions/L ... redirCnt=1
However, it is a) an anonymous posting on a baseball forum b) from October of last year that cites c) Jason La Canfora (master of unfounded and frequently wrong speculation) without even supplying a link.
I haven't been able to find anything since then.
So, I probably wouldn't put too much stock in anything about rumors of an announcement this month. But I guess in just 12 days we'll know for sure!

I believe LaCanfora's reference to February 15th was simply based on the fact that that's the NFL's standard deadline to apply for relocation. That deadline is pretty much a moot point, since the league's stance is that no team's can apply for relocation for 2015.
Kroenke could still make his announcement, but Feb. 15 would be based on NFL rules, and if he's already stepping outside of NFL rules to announce, I don't think he'd bother to worry about that deadline.

You all need to quit with all the doom and gloom in here. There is no deal in LA yet; we have not even seen clear renderings of a stadium. The team can't leave yet they don't have a place to play. The Coliseum and the Rose Bowl are too old to house a team for three years....maybe a season but not three years. The dome has more luxury boxes then both of them, hell the Coliseum doesn't have ANY.
STL has a plan and an experienced consultant and we're building momentum.
By the way, the Falcons stadium continues to go over budget.

^ What are we building momentum toward though? I don't think there is any way we are going to budge this billionaire so really this is a Hail Mary.
They'll play in the Rose Bowl, and if the end goal is playing in his new LA palace, I don't think he'll mind being in the Rose Bowl an extra year or two.
That said, I don't see much chance they're anywhere but St. Louis in 2015. It's possible, but unlikely. More likely they'll make the move in 2016.
Our stadium proposal has a chance, but I'm skeptical. Kroenke definitely wants out, and I just don't know if we can overcome that. (And given the specifics of the stadium plan, I really don't know if I want to.)

I don't think so for several important reasons.
1. The NFL is helping the project. Why would the NFL help a city that will not have team in a year???
2. Kroenke was one of the main people trying to bring STL football, he became apart of an ownership group trying to bring Stallion expansion team here before the Rams came.
3. The Rams have one of the best deals in sports literally don't pay for anything. They're getting a brand new state of the art stadium after they got one 25 years ago. Which brings me to the next point....
4. What going happen when Kroenke's stadium gets old IF its built in Cali? California does not BUILD NEW STADIUMS. The Raiders, Rams, Chargers have never gotten new stadiums in Cali. The Raiders and Chargers stadiums are nearly 50 years old. lol

In my opinion that wouldn't make since they have not even added the stadium to the zoning plan yet; the vote is coming in June. Then the EIR which even when done at lighting speed would take 16 months according to the ESPN LA reporter. 16+6=22 Months; Nearly two years before a shovel can even go in the ground. It would probably take three years to build an 80,000 seat stadium, that's how long it took to build the Cowboys 80,000 seat stadium.
I believe the Rams stay. I think Kroenke knows how STL operates with stadiums. Don't forget Bidwell negotiated for three years until Civic Progress boycott him, so he left. Also when the Kiel group muscled the Blues away from the owner or the team wouldn't get new arena, same with the Hawks but they were sold and booked to Atlanta.
Kroenke knows STL and how we do things here.
Yep. I'm going to stop reading this particular thread. Way too much negativity.

^^ You may be right, but I think you might be the first person I've seen that believes Kroenke wants to stay after his stadium announcement and what essentially was a dismissal of the Peacock plan. If they stay, I believe it will be because they were not able to clear hurdles on the LA end, not because Stan was going through some elaborate process to get a new stadium here.
