To address the St. Louis is "struggling" argument, here are a few graphs regarding St. Louis City.

Despite the population drop in City population, per capita income continues to rise because neighborhoods in St. Louis City are gentrifying.

Article: St. Louis Rams Fans Should Direct Blame Towards 1994 Lease And Not Stan Kroenke

From the article,
This Stan is definitely not The Man in St. Louis today.

But should St. Louis residents be mad at him, or at the persons behind a lease crafted and signed over twenty years ago which placed the St. Louis region behind the financial and legal eight-ball well before Stan Kroenke became the majority owner of the franchise in 2010 (he purchased a 40% share in the team in 1995).
As I see it, just because you have the advantage, doesn't always mean you should take it.

Kroenke apparently has NO respect for St. Louis.

At this point, St. Louis should let the Rams go. Screw Kroenke. Run him out of town all together. Stop shopping at his properties.

And what I don't understand is why LA would want them back. The Rams are losers and they left LA.

Further, Kroenke is a loser and all of his teams are losers.

Once Kroenke is allowed to move, I hope an earthquake happens, then a Tsunami comes and washes the new stadium and surrounding development into the sea.

At this point, why force someone who wants to leave into staying? I'd love to see that shiny new stadium on the waterfront but the cost to tax payers is just too astronomical. Divorces are ugly. That's life. Move on.

Because we spent a bunch of capital recruiting them to come here in the first place?

I think this play was less about LA and more about what's next for Stan. In the application he isn't so nice to the chargers. Which he would need to partner with to get to La since it's clear he can't get there alone. Chargers are going to LA. It's with raiders or Rams. I think making the application public and trashing task force plan Stan is setting himself up for new move. Maybe even to a city left open by Oakland or San Diego

^ We're getting set up for what I think is the worst possible scenario... he's not chosen for LA and we have to deal with this SOB for a few years until he goes elsewhere. My gut said he had no interest in the riverfront stadium but I held out some hope he might have had a Plan B for St. Louis.... looks like that is out in the trash. I hope NFL lets him move so we can get this over with.

I've never been more proud of my city than I was today. 99% of comments I read today or heard on the radio were in support of St. Louis.

It seems all-but-certain Stan won't be owning a team in St. Louis in the near future. Hopefully the NFL arrives at a resolution that involves a team here not owned by him.

this thing is soooo bizarre...scary thing the whole last year could have been planned out by the NFL...they needed STL to come up with a plan to push Oakland and SD but of course that didnt work out...so now STL has a plan and at the door step...all the sudden, not viable.

This is what it feels like to be used by the NFL, smacked around by Stan and dumped at the side of the road by both. Remember this feeling.

Just think how history could have been completely different if Shad Khan was allowed to purchase the team. The Rams wouldn't be on the verge of moving, we'd have an owner who actually speaks publicly, AND most likely than not we'd see some redevelopment downtown (or at the very least in the region) like what he's doing with his Shipyards and new training center developments

What I just got from the Ray Hartmann interview on AM 920, is that the Task Force plan was never viable, but done in order to at the very least, keep the Rams out of LA and force them to crawl back to STL and work something out. While I have no clue if that is true, it seems as if there are now major holes in the STL financing plan. Hartmann also goes on to say he thinks the scathing words in the Rams relocation app, were a direct result of the fact that the Rams are angry at STL for putting this much of a fight up and trying to sabotage his LA dream and force him to come back to STL. It has become personal between STL leadership/Task Force and StanK.
He also thinks we should put up to $400 million to get the Dome in shape to attract another team. I doubt a new team would play in a refurb’d dome. I think the Dome’s reputation ( which I think is very unfair) hurts our chances of that, before a potential owner even steps into it. I think the best play is to vote, get the State, County and City on board with a viable plan, then lure a new team here, once we’ve got a finalized plan on the table. I know that route will be long, frustrating and a long shot, but that is all we’ve got, once the Rams and StanK get there way to LA.
I always looked at Ray as just a strong and biased stadium opponent, but a lot of what he says, makes sense. He comes off as more credible, being a self-proclaimed Rams/NFL Football fan, who had season tickets and attended the Rams Super Bowls. I think at this stage, I am exhausted , very sick of this situation and ready for it to come to an end. I have Kroenke/NFL relocation fatigue. I think I am ready to submit to the fact that the LA Rams return is now more than ever, the likely outcome. I think SD and Dean Spanos work something out with StanK. That seems to be the most likely outcome. Then Mark Davis gets a kickback to get his new stadium going in the Bay Area. The Bay Area is booming. The NFL has to know that. Why would they bail on that? They STL is left to fight for a new team, with the likes of SD, San Antonio or Austin (at some point), Toronto, London and other ‘growing’ markets that may emerge. Even OKC has been mentioned if their growth continues. While I think STL is a better market than most of those cities, the NFL does not likely look on STL fondly. Time is not on our side. We are not growing and could fall even further down the list in top 25 MSA population, GDP and other indicators. We may also get a regime in Jeff City that is against ANY public money going towards a stadium here. I know this situation is not a done deal, but it just feels like things are moving in the direction of disappointment for our fine city.

PostJan 07, 2016#3498

One more thing that gets me thinking that the Rams are gone. Jason Cole has been of the belief for a while now, that Stan is denied LA.

After the meeting in NYC yesterday, he has reduced STL's chances of keeping the Rams to 15%. I know this is all speculation, but Cole has been on this story from the start.
