Site goes before the Planning Commission on December 1st for rezoning from industrial to unrestricted. The Planning Commission document doesn't name TopGolf in particular but says that this is for an "entertainment and golf center" or something along those lines.chriss752 wrote: ↑Jun 15, 202133 applications were made to the FAA on May 14th. Four were for a 53ft tall clubhouse. The other 29 were for poles ranging from 90ft to 190ft. When the coordinates of these applications are placed on a map, it reveals that the TopGolf will be built with the clubhouse's views facing Downtown. Overlaid with the Chesterfield puts the main entrance at the end of Papin and just a short walk away from Steelcote Crossing (which has a retail space that's meant to become a microbrewery). Say Papin is extended to Grand, then people coming from Grand (whether by foot or car) will have a clear look at the main entrance into TopGolf.
I think with this, it cracks a lot of the mystery behind the project and gives us a pretty clear look at what to expect (minus parking). Personally, I think we will see a surface parking lot along Chouteau and replacing the two buildings to the southeast of Papin and Theresa.
Finally, the FAA applications state that a construction work schedule is from March 1st 2022 to December 31st 2023 (take this as a grain of salt since it can change).
P.S.: There should be a formal announcement on this coming this summer.
Blue dots on the map are coordinates. Second picture is the Chesterfield location overlaid on the site. @sc4mayor your overlay on Page 4 of this thread was basically spot on.

It surprisingly hard to find a completed Top Golf on Google Maps. Probably went through 15 top golfs before finally finding one in Myrtle Beach

It's going to be super interesting to see what this TopGolf will ultimately look like, especially from the Grand viaduct.
^ I’ve got a pretty good idea of what it’s gonna look like…
I doubt very much they will, but it would be cool if they could do something with the screens. Maybe project some lights on them.
^^ I think the KC one is on Google Maps. It’s near Nall and 435. The Chesterfield one was up until they reverted the imagery for whatever reason.

^But it will be be fun. And a huge sales tax pull for the city. So marry for the money.
STL's is there if you turn off Globe View. If you do need globe view for some reason, KC's is visible too.GoHarvOrGoHome wrote: ↑Nov 27, 2021It surprisingly hard to find a completed Top Golf on Google Maps. Probably went through 15 top golfs before finally finding one in Myrtle Beach

I've noticed sometimes I've needed to clear my cookies to get updated photos (don't ask me why that works)... or I just need to go Google Earth instead of maps to see the updated satellite photos.
As AP pointed out...when you have Globe View off, Chesterfield and surrounding areas are updated with imagery (as of 7/20). When Globe View is on (for using the 3D map) the imagery is reverted to older imagery that doesn't display the TopGolf.
Imagery from 3/21 had been updated to the regular Google Maps recently, but has been pulled back. Those images can still be viewed on the Earth desktop app, though. There is also a bit of new imagery over the CWE from 7/21 there too.

The worst-kept secret in Midtown is now official...
STL Biz Journal: Topgolf in Midtown receives initial zoning approval, will not seek tax incentives
STL Post-Dispatch: Topgolf! SLU petitions for ‘golf entertainment center’ in Midtown St. Louis
Props again to @urbanitas and @chriss752 for figuring out what what going here in the first place and then making it news.

Anyone want to take a swing at sales, property, and payroll tax generation from this project?
SLU -> Private property = $$
Few hundred PT jobs = $
Fast entertainment with city views = $$$
Total = $$$$$$
Anyone notice how many non-incentive projects there have been recently?! Great job Jones admin!

Not too many non-incentive projects have been proposed. TopGolf and Optimist are the only two I can think of. Others projects got incentives or negotiated. Others haven’t determined whether they’ll seek them or not. So I wouldn’t declare any of this a victory for Tishaura yet. The ultimate test for her will be how her administration will spend the federal stimulus money, rams settlement money, and the infrastructure money.addxb2 wrote:Anyone want to take a swing at sales, property, and payroll tax generation from this project?

As for taxes on this property, I imagine it’ll be a pretty penny. People will come from all over to come to this TopGolf and many will stay behind to eat/drink at whatever businesses open at Steelcote.
This should be a pretty solid land for the area. I probably won't go but anything that reinforces 'progress' on the blighted parcels is a win. When is that ball field ever even used? I do wonder how the traffic is going to be configured though. Chouteau is pretty dodgy as is, with people driving like d*cks at all hours of the day. But it is coming up as a slowly building commercial/residential/office district from Truman to Grand. Wonder if any infrastructure funds could be allotted for a protected bike thoroughfare on one side, carved medians for left turns, etc.
Anything cooking across Chouteau?

Couldn’t agree more about Chouteau. Might as well be a racetrack. The road diet and bike lanes much of this stretch already has helps, but it needs bulb outs at the very least. The amount of cars I see simply speeding through the bike and parking lane to pass other cars is asinine.
Some bulb outs, medians and pedestrian refuges or islands would solve most of that. Similar to the improvements on Natural Bridge except maybe without as much bare concrete lol.

Has anyone heard any updates on this project since it passed the Planning Comission back in December?

^That sounds so bad I almost reported it thinking it was some kind of porn spam link. After some investigation I guess it's some kind of . . . putt putt golf kind of thing? Or topgolf with even more booze? I don't really get it. But some context would be nice.
I didn't report it. Mikenewell84 seems entirely legit. But I did look. Is PopStroke opening a location in town somewhere now too? I hesitate to even click on something like that.

Not that I'm able to find... and it looks like they only have three locations, all in Florida. Not sure why this was posted.
Seems that PopStroke is creating something for mini-golf similar to what Topgolf has done for driving ranges. Upscale locations, lots of entertainment (drinking) options while the newest location in Sarasota includes event space. Designed by Tiger Woods, I'm sure these will get lots of attention wherever they decide to expand and, judging by their current locations, they are building in hot, high development areas.
That said, I searched the Google and don't see anything tying this to STL either...

There are many iterations of this concept. The Puttery, which is a high-end and heavily themed version. And Puttshack, which is more like laser bowling or discotek, IMO - arcade themed with club like bar setting.
Since we are already getting a Puttshack I won't complain, but I think Puttery is the best of the bunch.
