As long as we're renaming streets, I've always liked the way parts of Denver have street names in alphabetic order. For example, you may pass in order the streets Leyden, Locust, Monaco, Magnolia, Niagara, Newport, Oneida, Olive, etc. It makes giving directions (for people who don't just use their phones) easy. Monaco is a major street so Newport can be referred to as the "2nd N past Monaco" and people pretty much know what you mean.
For what it's worth the streets on the north side of Heege Rd in the area around the Oakland House are named like this (absent the letter A for some reason - maybe an old street that no longer exists?) In order, from east to west:

Benmore St
Clevedon St
Delmont St
Elton St.
Fleta St.
Genesta St.
Harlan Ave.
Ivanhoe St.
Joel Ave.
Kingwood St.
Labelle St.
Menola St.
Navajoe St.
Oakdale St.

^Granite City also had/has something like that: Adams, Benton, Cleveland, Delmar, Edison, (State), Grand . . .

State dumps into Fehling, so one theory is they simply renamed it at some point and the whole thing was once Fehling. (Now it's just the block or so with the school.)

South Side Spaces announced that they will be renovating 2616-20 Cherokee - formerly occupied by a rent-to-own store - into three retail storefronts with three apartments above.

I hope the popup beach bar in the lot next door makes a comeback one day. That was fun.

^ Agreed, I checked that out, too. Haha.  Would obviously rather have something built, but in the meantime hell yeah.

Great news, and yes that second floor has indeed seen better days.

Jason Deem is proposing to renovate the building at 2616-20 Cherokee Street into 6 apartments and 3 commercial spaces. Development cost is $865,000. LCRA staff recommends a 10 year, 75% tax abatement for the property and it will be reviewed at the December 13th meeting.

The latest redo of Love Bank Park at Cherokee and Nebraska is very nice addition to the neighborhood.

Drove past a few times on the day it was opened and saw it packed and lively.

It was awesome to see! I'm seeing so many renovations of homes in the Cherokee St. area. It's really encouraging to see.

I really think that part of the city is on the up and up, and I'm considering buying a home around there. I really think home values will go up when the Green Line is installed.

There is a some real buzz and momentum on Cherokee again which is nice, it kind of feels like 2015 again.

The old Foam space is now Moshmellow, which is another small scale live music venue. Saturn Lounge in the antique district is cool as hell, the new Clements lock bar (only open on Thursdays) is a nice addition.

Meanwhile Golden Record is doing good business in the old 2720 space, the old National Rent a Center building is full of cute small businesses, K-Bop is a great addition, and 'Ssippi is doing it's trendy little thing on the west side.

Obviously there is still plenty of work to be done and vacancies to be filled (RIP B-Side) but it's hard not to be optimistic about Cherokee these days. Such a dynamic street

It still opens for events sometimes, and still operates a functional bar.

Looks like Fattened Calf is opening a standalone location at 3405 S. Jefferson (next to Hop Shop)

Fattened Caf now open on Jefferson just off of Cherokee. Interior looks great.

“tshüss” has opened at 2847 Cherokee Street next to Love Bank Park in the basement of the building. An underground dance club

Cherokee continues to be one of the coolest streets in America in my opinion and continues to get overlooked (partly why it has remained actually alternative)

I would love for the immediately adjacent neighborhoods to continue to stabilize and support a completely filled in Cherokee

Fortune Teller closing at end of year. Quirky fun place that was a go to for me when I had out of towners. Always busy when I was there. I think a lot of places on Cherokee stay cool because StL is shielded from influencer culture, but also hurts cool unique places because these places pop off in influencer riddled cities

Cherokee loses a piece of its uniqueness. Fortune Teller one of the more unique bars anywhere for sure

^ businesses succeeded and failed prior to influencer culture. Cherokee has struggled for as long as i've been alive. it's been "up and coming" for decades. the problem—as with everywhere in St. Louis—is lack of density and lack of foot traffic.

anyway, sad to see it close. sucks to lose both this and Earthbound at the same time.
