It seems lifted form a stadium text book - I just think it's very plain and uninspiring - it is cool that SLU has its own house now. It will be a different experience watching a game in a full (or almost) stadium.

I'll agree it'a no Sprint Center in KC, but it's not bad at all.

It kind of reminds me of a mini-Ed Jones Dome.

Really kinda unforntunate that they axed the signature patina green pyramid towers. I think that really would of given it a unique, signature look.

While it may be fairly generic, the huge glass sides do give it marks way ahead of the Dome, and many other campus arenas. A lot that I've seen have the Superdome facelessness...though some, like in Memphis, are very cool.

It looks much nicer than most Missouri Valley Conference buildings. I would consider the MVC a similar division 1 conference as A-10. I think the new (high profile) coach and a new on-campus building will really help boost interest in NCAA basketball in this city. Now all we need is another Larry Hughes....

I've only seen the new arena from the webcam and from what I have seen I like it. College arenas should not be full of glitz and glam. I realize that with a dependence upon corporations and extra revenues from the glitz and glam that some of the features are necessary but I also feel like arenas should feel like a college venue.

I look forward to attending a SLU game or two this year in their new house.

Interesting fact, Majerus's daughter graduated from the Wash U MBA program a few years ago.

It has the green roof theme that all the new buildings at SLU have. It fits on the campus.

Were your exams written in cuneiform back then? Did you have to walk 5 miles uphill both ways? :P

No, but there was no median on Grand. And then there was Blackwell's Law, developed by a physics-major classmate of mine: "During a change of classes, the wind will always be in your face."

(Oh, yeah -- true story: Several of us had a thriving business typing punchcards and running SPSS programs for grad students, especially those working on the voluminous number of Ph.D.s in education that SLU granted.)

Great playas fill the stands. I bought season tickets that year so I could witness his cross over dribble move live. I'd rather have 5 Larry Hughes' for 1 year, than 5 Chris Heinrich's for 4 years.

Chris Heinrich would actually come in handy for us this year.

We'll definitely do a game.

I actually like Bryce - he has soft hands and a good shot. His presence is disruptive to the other team, which is great. His footwork is questionable, but when you're 7-foot-whatever, that pretty much comes with the territory. I'd really like to see him bulk up and be more tenacious on the boards - the last few years, he'd go up to get a rebound, but wasn't strong enough to hold onto it as he brought it down.

He has a lot to prove, and it will be interesting to see if Majerus can get the most out of him.

That said, Heinrich as a senior was tough. He'd be good for this team, since we don't have much depth at center. Knollmeyer is the only other big that we have right now. Makes me wish Brad would have redshirted Ian.

Mine was the first class to graduate in the new Mizzou Arena. It was pretty cool going in and seeing it from the opposite perspective, with the crowd there for you (instead of a sports team) in such a large space.

And I haven't really been following this project, but I was wondering if there were any renderings of the "patina green pyramid towers" TheWayoftheArch mentioned. Probably not the best idea to get excited to see something that will never be, but it has my interest. Thanks in advance if anyone has them to show.

Yes, we know, he was wondering if the original renderings were still around so he could see what it looked like.

They removed the towers as rising building costs made them cost prohibitive. While I am not a huge fan of that particular new wave roofing material, friends I have in the contracting business say it is expensive stuff, and combined with other costs, would have been really pricey.

How does one pronounce this name? I had thought it was a "k" at the beginning, like chai mocha latte'. SO "Kai-fetz".

No?
