Carondelet Village (Crescent Phase II)
$100 million
Carondelet Plaza
Status: On hold
Mark S. Melhman Realty sought to build a mixed-use development as a second phase next to its luxury condo development, the Crescent at 155 Carondelet Plaza. Mark Mehlman, principal of Mark S. Mehlman Realty, presented plans to Clayton officials for the mixed-use development in December 2006. He requested $15 million in tax increment financing for the Carondelet Village project that called for an outdoor retail center totaling 100,000 square feet; 102,000 square feet of offices; a 100-room boutique hotel; a 755-car garage; and a two-story, 18,000-square-foot bank with a drive-through.
Now, that project is on hold. “Because of the economic conditions, we have put Carondelet Village on hold,” Mehlman said. “We certainly think that when conditions improve, we’ll be able to come back out with it. We still feel it’s the right project and the right location, just not the right time.”

Anyone know if there is any movement on this project? I noticed the other day that the buildings at 7520, 7528, and 7634 are being torn down. These are the buildings at the southeast corner of Forsyth and Lyle. Wondered if that was to make room for this project!
By the way, long time reader, first time writer here. Excited to be active on this forum!

Just wanted to bump this thread up to see if there were any construction yet on this.

I'll try to snap some pics soon. The Trianon Condo sales office is still there, though I don't pass it enough to see if it's ever open. There are some lowly buildings that are clearly awaiting the wrecking ball.

sounds dead to me
Carondelet Village
$100 million
Between Forsyth and Carondelet Plaza
Developer Mark Mehlman said demand remains strong for a shopping space and boutique hotel near his luxury condo project, the Crescent. But the proposed Carondelet Village project remains on hold.
“Hopefully someday in the future it will become revitalized,” Mehlman said.
The Carondelet Village project, which was originally slated to open this year, would have included 110,000 square feet each of office and retail space; a 150-room boutique hotel; a 663-car garage; and a two-story, 18,000-square-foot bank with a drive through. Mehlman said it would also include a movie theater and a specialty grocer.
“It still might be a while, but we all hope it does happen,” Mehlman said.
