Is that the bridge connecting the Foundry to the Armory? It looks like the snake from Millennium Park just a little bit cooler with bikes!!

There's four days left to provide comments to East-West Gateway in support of the Brickline Greenway to receive federal funding: https://www.ewgateway.org/stp-s-cmaq-pu ... 20GREENWAY

I'm not sure how much impact a flood of positive comments actually has in the grand scheme of things, but the Tower Grove Connector was approved for a $5.59 M federal construction grant in part because it accounted for more than 90% of all public comments (with a vast vast majority being strongly in support).  So please take 5 minutes, fill out the comments form linked above, and share with your friends and family to do the same.

Design 12-18 months, right of way acquisition of 12 months puts you in 2024

GRG says 2025. Hope you're right.

What right of way do they need to acquire?

Depends on the design. They’ve often had to take 1-2 feet from front yards in their projects that are street running.

Every time I go to Charlotte to visit the in-laws I get super impatient for this greenway to get built. Their greenway through the South End is a masterpiece that I can’t wait to see replicated in our central corridor.

I particularly love seeing how the adjacent new buildings directly address the greenway with entrances and outdoor seating spilling into it.

ALSO the greenways integration with their open light rail system is fantastic. In one instance at the 7th St. Station there is a little food hall/marketplace in the bottom of a parking garage. Entrances to the market spill directly into the station itself. It’s beautiful and easy. Something we could still have here if we abandon this stupid turnstile idea.

Something like that would have been beautiful to see in the location the new garden/concrete space on the Landing.  I always thought turning the parking garage down there into a small open air food hall and beer garden would have been a great adaptive reuse.

'Imagine trees and music and artwork': Trail district pitches $245 million greenways connecting St. Louis
https://www.stltoday.com/business/local ... 65b29.html
The section running by the soccer stadium, which will include art installations honoring the former Black Mill Creek Valley neighborhood, will be finished by the first MLS game in spring 2023.

Other parts are in the design phase. The northern segment that will connect Fairground Park to Page Avenue received a $15 million federal grant late last year to help fund construction. Des Peres-based financial services firm Edward Jones and other private donors are providing a match. Penny Pennington, managing partner of Edward Jones, called the Brickline one of the "most important investments in the St. Louis region."

GRG is counting on the private sector for funding. Of the Brickline's $245 million price tag, $155 million will come from businesses and private donors.

The city won't be solely responsible for maintaining the Brickline; GRG is setting aside about $15 million, or 2% of all private fundraising, for a maintenance fund.
Didn’t realize Edward Jones and others were providing a match to the recently announced federal grant. That’s nice to see.

Would not have expected Edward Jones of all people to pitch in so much for an infrastructure project like this specifically within the city limits. Perhaps this is an early omen that EJ will soon grow their footprint in the city.

I didn't realize they are going south of 40, I had always assumed they were somehow using that extra railway bridge that goes over Vandeventer to cut through the foundry.

^ I believe it’s always been part of the plan…with the Foundry connection as a small spur:

Ahh that makes more sense, that extra spur seems like a great way to connect the greenway to SLU

^  & ^^ a little clueless but does the brickline follow Grand North and then head down FPP east to get to Market?

No, this looks like it will be to connect with the Grand Metro stop below Grand itself.  I believe the connection that will go further east will rely on either the future spur route through City Foundry then along the new wide bike path (i.e. where there's the new parking garage along FPP) OR the eventual conceptual bridge connector between the Armory District and City Foundry. The map on the Great Rivers Greenway site doesn't show how exactly it will get from the south side of FPP to Market near the interstate exchange, but there's always the Lindell Laclede pedestrian path through SLU's campus in front of Chaifetz Arena that could be a de facto connector for getting from Grand over to Market.

Everyone make sure to take the survey. They ask "Where else would you like to see a spur off of this section?" Spring Ave viaduct/spur seems like it might be the best suggestion, north and/or south. Any other good suggestions? Let them know!

Really hope they prioritize the on-street routes. I can’t imagine being stuck between two fences for a quarter mile is going to be a tremendous user experience…

Would hate to be stuck on the trail with the wrong stranger.

I added Vandy North/South.  My view of the pictures it looked like they were doing a "stop"/crosswalk at scott avenue near the grand metro/rec hall already.

I added  comments to suggest a lot of trees/shade in this area to curb noise/air pollution.  Also water stations & bathrooms
