Just my thoughts...
Novel thought: Instead of playing politics, she should veto it because it is in the best interest of the city and region. And that little detail where we already voted on it...addxb2 wrote: ↑May 14, 2018Just my thoughts...
I think it largely depends on how confident her office is in the results. A veto will be used against her as a direct attack on the AA community of St. Louis, which isn't something she wants come next election.
The redo has to pass by 60% on a low turn out election. The crowd against ward reduction will have to mobilize a significant campaign in order to rally a MUCH higher turnout from the north side to get 60%. Knowing that there is generally higher turnout in south city wards (which largely voted in favor of ward reduction), defeating it with at least 41% seems very plausible. That being said, why would she create a political risk if it doesn't stand a chance of winning?
Me too. It's embarrassing how this is all going. They should be ashamed of themselves.
