I almost got run over by group bike rides in the park a couple of times. I should stage a group walk against bike traffic violence.

Seriously though, I'm for people having that as a legit option for transport but they need to follow traffic rule
So you do realize like...parks are for everyone right? Bicyclists have just as much right to ride through the park as you do to walk through it. Perhaps consider calming down and realizing that cyclists will never go out of their way to *actually* target and hit you. You aren't a victim here, sorry to let you know.
You seem upset, I'm not. I just don't like the holier than thou attitude from cyclists when they probably break more laws than cars do. Get them paths on the road and keep em away from pedestrians.

Just a conservative getting triggered by bikes. Nothing to see here, move along.

@Auggie I ride my bike to work almost every other day and I agree with @flipz sentiment. We all should be considerate of others. This is not the first time that I have heard complaints from pedestrians regarding bicyclists not following speed limit in forest park and breaking traffic rules at other places.

99% chance that this triggered conservative just got passed by bikes going a normal bike speed on a pathway dominated by bikes. Highly doubt these bikers did anything abnormal, I would actually bet he got scared and jumped to the side- into the path of another bike (which I have seen plenty of times riding my own bike when I come up behind a pedestrian not paying any attention to the world around them).

I mean, this triggered conservative literally says bikers "break more laws than cars do". He doesn't live in real life and actively votes to make his own life worse because that's how removed from real life he is.

So no, he's a triggered conservative who doesn't like bikes, literally nothing to see here.

Auggie just as a potential moment of reflection for you: Your comment is entirely a personal attack on someone you (and I) often disagree with as well a rambling claim that your 99% sure you know what happened even though you would have literally know way of knowing what happened. Just think on that for a minute.

There’s really no debate here. Any reasonable urbanist wants cars, bikes, and pedestrians to be respectful of each other and follow the rules.

Oh my bad, am I supposed to seriously debate a triggered conservative on the merits of requiring a city permit for group bike rides and a "police prescence" (whatever the ***** that means) and if bikes break the law more than cars?

Did you even read the fever dream that he wrote? It's the writing of a triggered conservative who doesn't like bikes. It's that straightforward.

BTW, my 99% comment is as verifiable as his entire story. Which is not verifiable, which is even further evidnece of why it shouldn't be given the time of day.

Any reasonable person would look at the insincerity and absurdity of what he wrote and laugh. It's the crap you'd see on some conservative reddit page or facebook or Twitter. Does not belong here at all. Yet here are the liberals, taking conservative nonsense seriously.

What would be a more beneficial contribution to this forum would be for you to seriously debate the points you disagree on, or simply not respond. That’s the thing you’re not grasping. The user shared an anecdotal story as an example, something you and I and others do here from time to time. Your saying it didn’t happen for certain even though you would have no way of knowing that and Negative interactions for pedestrians do happens often enough with bikes.

As somebody who is often on these rides, some of them have different vibes than others. If you come across one as a pedestrian just keep walking predictably and the group will flow around you like water. I've probably been on 100 and have never once seen a pedestrian hit

I'm most frequently a pedestrian and I've definitely encountered cyclists who forget that everyone should be mindful of protecting the most vulnerable road users, just like when I'm walking I yield to people with mobility aids. I definitely hate when I'm crossing an intersection on foot and a cyclist doesn't stop for me, but I've also been the cyclist who insists at stopping at every stop sign and it just makes drivers more aggressive towards me instead of treating me as an equal on the road.

That said, this Gravois ride was not the chaos you may or may not have previously experienced. How do I know? I was walking next to the RDP greenway with a cooler and the riders told me to get back on the sidewalk and they'd keep me safe. Multiple riders insisted. It can be a little intimidating to see a large group but they were kind and trying to get me to use my own sense.

Just like half the time when I'm on a bike and I say "on your left" and a pedestrian jumps left, sometimes people feel uncomfortable in new situations or when caught off guard but it doesn't mean anyone did anything bad. We don't need to make bad assumptions about the behavior of this group on the ride and even more than that, I can confirm they were being extremely mindful of the presence of everyone around them.

Well said. This generally aligns with my experiences between bikes and pedestrians.

Scott said "any day now" when I asked him on Sunday but he didn't seem enthusiastic in his belief of that.

Really excited about going to the Gateway Cup for the first time. Which is the best neighborhood to see it in? Lafayette Sq, Francis Park, the Hill or Florissant?

Lafayette Square is at dusk/night. That always made it a great vibe IMO.

I will miss the OG location, but this spot will be much more conducive to their mission. Right in the heart of most biked section of the city and easy bus access
