I’d love to see St. Louis adopt a sports gambling model similar to Washington, D.C.'s. In D.C., they allow sports betting at several locations, and while there are mobile apps, they can only be used within a couple of blocks of the betting site. This setup really encourages people to gather in those areas, boosting foot traffic and creating a lively atmosphere if used around a sports venue.

I agree with this.  Unfettered online gambling would generate larger revenues but has big negatives for a subset of the population and minimal public upside for anything other than state general revenue.  Gambling at venues bars and such would get people out and about and likely spending money in the community while also creating a certain level of friction that is a mild deterrent to those prone to addiction.  I think that's a better model.

I will have to review the amendment but i could see myself voting no.

Thinking about this design today, it really shows Cordish is, or at least thinks it is, more capable of complex designs than they have shown with the Light buildings in KC or the BPV tower.

Is there any possibility we see some more forward thinking out of Cordish for the remainder of BPV or something with design nods to St. Louis or the Cardinals? I guess this would be on the Cardinals to push, as the Gateway Foundatikn did in this case

In short, Bill DeWitt says the Millennium site plans are further along than the next phase of Ballpark Village. Depending on how fast Cordish moves and economics of it, the Cardinals might invest into it.

Drawings for phase 3 were done by this time last year. So it’s definitely far ahead unless cordish so so far ahead that it’s ready to apply for permits this spring

The Cardinals are such a laughing stock these days. They have zero direction whether it’s on the field, in the front office or BPV.

State Senate bill introduced for St Charles sports authority to up to $10million per year in state taxes towards a sports facility that would draw visitors in from beyond state lines.

It could for optics. The average cardinal fan views any development in ballpark village as taking away team investment in the team spending. With there being so much attention on the team as of late for being “cheap” this helps there narrative

I'd be surprised if they oriented an amenity deck to the north. If you flipped the building around, the deck would be able to see over phase 1 and get a view of Busch. Obviously though this is just basic filler.

This franchisee sounds pretty suspect.

I'm shocked that Hanley and Wydown spot has been allowed to sit empty for so long. That used to be one of the busiest Starbucks around. 

Plus the Hanley and Dale location is sometimes so busy that have 15-20 minute waits or just completely shut off mobile ordering. But that could be because they were one of the leaders to push for unionization and corporate retaliates at them.

Another sad round of posts (no disrespect to those who posted)  after some mockups were teased in February.     The best BPV can do going for newsworthiness half way into the year is a story about lawsuit.   Fricking build more class A space and you just might create foot traffic for a Starbucks to succeed.

We've seen to many mock ups, renderings, "plans", rumors and other things.

Given the economic trends in the US and the general malaise from the Cardinal organization I'm not going to get excited until there's a press conference event.

Planning for a third phase of Ballpark Village is ongoing, with the project to include another residential tower and possibly another office building if the Cardinals and development partner Cordish Cos. can pre-lease enough space for the office tower, DeWitt said. He didn't provide a timeline for Ballpark Village's third phase.
Quote in the Business Journal about BPV from the article on the Cards benefitting from the push for new stadiums in KC. Its really brutal how little the corporate community here cares for Downtown. No one is willing to take the initiative and make the jump. Weren't Thompson Coburn lined up potentially for a new office tower at BPV? Looks like from the other thread they're headed instead to the Millennium Hotel redevelopment.

Honestly someone, anyone from the suburbs, show some balls and take the leap. Good luck recruiting talent from outside the region to your office park in Chesterfield or Creve Coeur.

^ Have to give DeWitt some credit for a very underwhelming delivery on one of the prime spots in the region and top tier in the state as well.   Laughable his comments about being hands off when statehouse hands his stadium $100 million to do upgrades.   Load of BS.  Unfortunately for St. Louis, region and state for that matter that the the MO statehouse didn't deliver on 909 Chestnut.    

In the meantime, Cheering for Cordish to knock their new development out of the park (pun intended), Kingshighway & Lindell tower breaks ground this year, and AHM able to move ahead with west downtown timber tower next year.    DeWitt could or should have a tower crane keeping busy and been advertising pre lease deals already..

I’m not a DeWitt apologist, but they’re the least of your worries when it comes to downtown development.
