It won't be the off-season if games are going on across the street.

Between BPV's huge interior space, them optimizing the ample outdoor space (e.g. basically turning the "infield" into a beer garden for game watching), the Davos patio, Budweiser Brewhouse Patio, Cardinals Nation sidewalk seating along Clark, Live! by Loews balcony, one could see BPV being pretty busy on a July game day, even if folks can't go into Busch.

Depending on the specific terms of the restrictions the BPV seats and Wrigley rooftops might be some of the only places in the country to watch live baseball.
That's assuming social distancing restrictions will be lifted to the point that large crowds will be able to congregate in public accommodations. It's probably a pretty safe bet we'll still be on 25% capacity limits for restaurants in July. Maybe for the rest of the year. I do think they'll try to sell the Cardinals Nation rooftop seats if they're allowed to do so, but I'm betting they won't be allowed to fill more than a fraction of them at a time.
Maybe they'll just close Clark and make it an open street "venue" on game days. That'd go over pretty well, with plenty of space for adequately socially distanced beer swilling.
Clark really should be pedestrian only on game days.

I believe it usually is. I know it absolutely is before and after the game.

That could work, but only if you have barricades at each end and security limiting the number of people allowed to enter the "party zone". If you make it a free for all, you'll just get huge crowds on the street instead of inside the bar mall, which doesn't really solve the problem, it just moves it to another place. I can't foresee any plan in which they'll allow people to gather without some pretty strict restrictions on the maximum number of people allowed to congregate.

I really like the building overall, and it's definitely a massive improvement over the patch of asphalt that used to be in its place. I just hate the stupid LED monitor. The rest of the building looks really good.

I wonder how much longer until the tower crane comes down? Shouldn't be too much longer, I would think sometime in the next month. The thing is scheduled to open in just 56 days.

I'm loving how it looks from the arch grounds! The screen is something that will appeal to non-architecturally conscious people which I'd assume are in the vast majority. It is just so odd that they would add that so last minute.

They're currently using the tower crane to install the glass panels on the parapet. After that is completed I would imagine it would begin coming down in short order.

Fantastic pictures Platinum!  I don't like the screen either, but it's a wonderful looking building.  Looks really great from the Arch Grounds too.

And I'm also 99.9% sure Clark is closed completely on game days already.  The entry lines at the left field gate (4) are usually lined up into the street.

I think having something on the screen may take away from the disconnect some.  I will defer my opinion until completion.

Yes. It likely would have been 2-3 years anyway given the pace at which this whole development has moved along, but with the pandemic and the huge economic impact it will have for the next year or so, I'd be shocked if we see tower cranes setting up on the northern portion of BPV any sooner than 2022 or 2023.

Went to Brewers and Reds games last year. Our scene is so much better than Milwaukee. I thought Cincinnati's was better. Not really the ballpark, but the scene and the connectivity to DT. And, the sight lines. It was so easy to walk in and it was popping. Great place to see a game, man I miss baseball. By the way, when I visited those cities, seems like Cincy has a dose of the low self-esteem STL has, with people bashing the city when I was pumped about it. Milwaukee folks were city boosters and super nice. Wisconsin pride maybe. Not sure Ohio or Missouri have statewide pride. Not a TX pompous thing, just happiness and contentment. Chicago and Boston are my two favorite places to go to games. Sorry, way off topic.

Those parking lots south of I-64 are brutal.

A low rise mixed use district on those lots would do so much good for the city.

^ I may be a bit out of the loop now...but aren’t some of those lots supposed to be part of a fully built out Chouteau Greenway? Or I guess I should say the Brickline. I don’t think we’ll be seeing any progress on that for the foreseeable future considering our current economic turmoil...but I thought GRG owned a few of those lots down there.

I think I'm more horrified by the parking lot on two sides of City Hall and the adjacent parking lot catercorner from the City's primary transit station and across from the arena. They don't have the excuse of being sandwiched between highway lanes, Metrolink tracks and freight tracks.

But, great to have the giant void between 8th & Broadway 2/3 filled in.

How does the math even work out on those bars down there south of Busch, the ones that are open only a few hundred hours per year?

Real estate and building maintenance that cheap? Their prices are that high?

That stuff is almost as bad as seas of parking.

$8/beer and $25/park (or whatever it is) seems pretty profitable.

Man a land use tax to deincentivize surface parking in the area bounded by Chouteau, Jefferson, and MLK would do a lot of good for this town. Maybe then Nestle and Ameren can consolidate their ridiculous lots too.

This is a little off topic but Kenny Chesney's concert at Busch Stadium is still planned for June 13th. It will be interesting to see if it's cancelled but they were advertising it as recently as this afternoon on 92.3/WIL.

Ameren actually has 24/7 security to tell you that you can't cut across the empty parking lot to avoid walking inches from zooming traffic. That, along with that dumbass light at 18th and Gratiot, should turn pretty much everyone against their absurd lots.
