If you haven't been its a must. Al's is everything a classic steakhouse should be. If those walls could talk...symphonicpoet wrote: ↑Jan 28, 2020If anything forces me to eat at Al's, just to see what an actual classic steakhouse is like, this would be it. Yeah, the marketing material is deeply annoying.

^well Al's is officially in a different "neighborhood right? Not officially part of the downtown neighborhood. I never liked the boundaries as drawn but it is one way to interpret the ad.

^Still got Carmine's, Morton's and Ruth's Chris. Not sure what the criteria is but I would think they fit.

“What this does is basically allows (the) Power and Light District (in Kansas City) and also Ballpark Village areas to become an entertainment district so that they could also do sports betting and VLT’s,” Shaul testifies.
VLT’s, known as video lottery terminals, are slot machines. State Rep. Peter Meredith, D-St. Louis, asked about the amendment’s language.
“Are we sure that it’s limited to those two (Power and Light and Ballpark Village), with these definitions,” Meredith asks Shaul.
“I believe before this bill is done, they’ll be some expansion of that to some other players that will want to be involved,” Shaul responds.

Carmine's is one of my favorites in the city. I don't think I have had Morton's yet but did dine at Ruth's Chris. Slightly off topic, and outside of downtown - but Hamilton's is another favorite.Black02AltimaSE wrote: ↑Jan 29, 2020^Still got Carmine's, Morton's and Ruth's Chris. Well, good news is that Loews appears to have revised it's Dine + Drink descriptions, removing the term "only".
Clark & Bourbon is now described as "...downtown’s premier classic steakhouse..."

Facade work continuing on the North side. The grey finish work is going to look pretty nice once completed, IMO.
Looks like it's been revised yet again...Tim wrote: ↑Jan 29, 2020Well, good news is that Loews appears to have revised it's Dine + Drink descriptions, removing the term "only".

Inviting aromas beckon to the exposed kitchen within our cozy, friendly neighborhood steakhouse. The open plan restaurant is flanked by a mixology prep lab in the bar where chefs and mixologists work side by side. Within, our Bourbon Room is the focal point. It will hold an extensive selection of bourbons, both mainstream and rare finds, an excellent choice for private celebrations.

Exactly. I mean when people think of cozy and friendly neighborhood joints, the one common thing we all have front of mind is the mixology prep lab.DTGstl314 wrote: ↑Jan 30, 2020Tim:Well, good news is that Loews appears to have revised it's Dine + Drink descriptions, removing the term "only".

As you can tell, I'm back but only will be for a little while.
I believe Davio's Steakhouse will remain and that Clark & Bourbon is a Loews Hotel concept.
Here are some photos I took on Sunday since it was very nice outside. Key takeaways, the Busch Stadium artwork on the Loews hotel has been installed, sidewalks are mostly opened at Loews. The walkway between OneLife and PwC Penantn Building is now open. A roundabout is nearing completion at 7th and Cardinal Way. Finally, the sidewalks outside of OneLife are partially open and are very wide.

I'm surprised Cordish would go along with that - I have to think that two steakhouses in the same development is a bit of overkill. Two steakhouses literally in the same building seems like extreme overkill.chriss752 wrote: ↑Feb 06, 2020I believe Davio's Steakhouse will remain and that Clark & Bourbon is a Loews Hotel concept.

I love the Busch Stadium relief. I didn't know that was in the plans. Nice.
The renderings appear to show sidewalks, so it seems a bit odd that they don't seem to have made any progress on sidewalks entering from the north and west.
That's the most irksome thing about BPV to me, is that there's no obvious, easy way for pedestrians to enter from the north without utilizing parking lots and driving lanes. Feels like suburbia.

^ Yeah, sadly it looks like those N-S sidewalks got nixed, based on Chris's recent photos. Presumably there will still be entrances at the corners - into the parking lots - as there were before.
Well that's awful. Those corner sidewalk entrances are already there at both north-facing entrances.
All they really had to do was push back the parking row nearest the entrance with a second curb or set-back parking blocks to create an actual walkway where you're not subject to assault from all sides.

My guess is they are saving them for future phases. It probably saves time and money not to install those sidewalks now.

^ probably costs more money and time if done later....
I would agree if you know where the sidewalks are going to be at the end of the day when the development is finally built out to its fullest. Instead, I think this is was one of those classic changes that come under the umbrella of value engineering in order to build out the parking lot as cheap as possible at same time while maximizing space for revenue in short term, in this case parking spaces for next coming baseball season.dbInSouthCity wrote: ↑Feb 06, 2020^ probably costs more money and time if done later....
At same time to defend their choice for the long term is that the next phase might look very different depending how soon Cardinal Way Two is announced and how much interest they are getting on Class A office space. So they could put in a sidewalk and rip it out in two years. I would say it sucks but you could argue that a person can go a block in either direction, to the east or west, and will have sidewalk say along Broadway to the ballpark or BPV phase II just as easily.... which I'm sure I will get some pushback on this last sentence.
At the end of day I hope more of the development breaks ground, goes higher sooner than later so this is one of those discussions that become pointless pretty quickly

This shows all of the little red fan blobs not only flowing through the parking lots, but right through some of their precious parking spaces. That's not going to work, unless perhaps they are tailgating??
Also, not sure why so many blobs are congregating on Walnut Street next to Spire...do those represent drunk Spire employees?

I would think that’s people who are coming from Kiener plaza and such.

Not the red blobs in the crosswalk, all the blobs in the middle of Walnut that you can't see because you are on your phone.PlatinumBlues wrote: ↑Feb 07, 2020I would think that’s people who are coming from Kiener plaza and such.

Just when I'm starting to come around to liking this project and appreciating the scale of the investment despite some of its more Cordishy aspects you have to go and point out some suburban security-gate surface-lot bs they totally cheaped out on.eee123 wrote: ↑Feb 06, 2020The renderings appear to show sidewalks, so it seems a bit odd that they don't seem to have made any progress on sidewalks entering from the north and west.

Hopefully the dots don't represent people. Otherwise, their investments have all been for naught.
My thought is that maybe the developers don't know the exact vision for those extra parking spots so not pouring new side walks now allows them to know exactly where to pour later.dbInSouthCity wrote: ↑Feb 06, 2020^ probably costs more money and time if done later....
