Agreed. Looks pretty dinky.

I thought the whole point of that outdoor screening setup was more to attract people to BPV to watch away games (especially playoffs), Blues games (especially playoffs), Arch and March Madness, World Cup games, etc... Figured they would have gone bigger to pull people in when there’s not a live game across the street to do that.

This is an awesome shot (thanks Chris). B of A Tower, BPV, Arch, OCW. There’s a lot to like here. I wasn’t crazy about the creamier color of the Live by Lowe’s than its renderings, but this corner is really coming together into a nice urban space.

Yeah, it looks kind of ridiculous right now.
I'm sure it will be surrounded by static ads, but yes, it looks pretty cheap either way.  They will probably do live broadcasts of games, and the Cardinals don't want the competition of a free jumbo LED screen...lol
No idea why that would be a problem, considering they used to have a fairly sizable screen broadcasting Cardinals games in the Busch II infield before Phase 2 construction began...

Not really sure you can see OCW however you can see the crane.

I think it is the same screen, they just mounted it higher and on a larger frame.

Maybe. But it certainly looks smaller to me.

Is the stage really that much bigger than the old concession stand that was out there?

^ Yeah that's definitely smaller.  Unless my eyes are playing tricks on me.  The smaller screen just could have been put up as a temporary screen for the concert or whatever event was out there.  I would imagine they would install a larger screen once things start to wrap up, but who knows.

Gotta wonder... surely there will be something at the edge of the pool preventing people from... you know... plunging to their deaths on the street below.
Right?

^ There does appear to be a close to chest high wall along the edge of the pool. It also looks like the pool is set back a bit from the rest of the edge of that level, probably to catch any overflowing water...and potential swimmers I suppose. Short of anyone intentionally jumping off the side I wouldn’t think they’d see any accidental falls.

Yes.  Compare the screen size relative to features on the Cardinals Nation wall, plus people and objects close to the screen in the two photos.  The stage is about 5' above the sidewalk.  The bar countertop in the old photo is about 3' high with a ~6' tall dude standing next to it.  Look at it that way and the screen is about 10'-11' tall and 18' to 20' wide...in both photos.

Yeah, still not seeing it. I really don't think the stage is 5 feet off the ground. Look closely at the pictures, to the left side of the stage - those are police barricades. Police barricades are not typically 5 feet tall - more like 3.5 feet tall - and those are just slightly lower than the stage. That, and I was at the Cards-Nats game last Wednesday and literally walked right by the stage as I was leaving and can say with near certainty that the stage is not 5 feet off the ground.

Even if the stage surface is only 4' above grade, it wouldn't change the estimate of the "new" screen size.  It is still clearly at least 10' tall in that photo, i.e. very close to the display in the earlier photo.

What the future of the American ballpark should look like
The American ballpark is in decline. Let’s build it back up.

No picture but a very large PwC sign is up on the Ballpark facing side of the office building. I first caught a glimpse of it from the 55/44 ramps. As for the electronic mural signs, they nixed them.

I liked the first version better.  🙂  Sounds like something Ballpark Village could use...

Progress photos from today. The mural looks to be of Sportsman’s Park.

^ Looking good, thanks for the pics, Chris!

Are there still plans to put pavers in the street or just the sidewalks?

It appears just the sidewalks now, which is fine I guess. Every time another Phase starts, the street pavers would have to come up. Sidewalks will still have them, but they won’t take forever to relay or rip up.

Two Light in KC has an infinity edge pool. It’s pretty much as you described it plus a small walk a half floor down.

I bet they are rushing to get as much done as possible for the first playoff game. Big advertising opportunity with the bigger tv audiences for the playoffs.
