The three sided section of Forest Park between Kingshighway, Lindell, and West Pine makes for a semi-private park.

In other words it is a candidate for some kind of public plaza.

Think

The dense housing areas between Kingshighway and around Euclid could form a collaborative organization to adopt the most northwest section of the park and create the public plaza. They could host traveling exhibits like those orange gateway things that were in Central Park. This section would only have oarking along Grand Drive, but would be pedestrian oriented for eastern CWE people. There could be a gatehouse like entrance without the gate and a decorative fountain. There would need to be a lot of trees along Lindell and Kingshighway to block out some noise and provide screening.

It could make a great entrance into the park if West Pine was taken out. The area could become the eastern entrance and with a better pedestrian bridge over the railroad, Metro, and FFP it could connect to the lakes and ice rink in a dramatic way. The transportation corridors make it difficult for the Kingshighway side to be very urban park like until south of the railroad or two streets below FFP. It looks like there used to be a golf course where those laboog like lakes are. There should be a promenade.

I love it. Entering FP from the CWE (the most dense residential on the park) is horrendous. The bridge over Metro should be 10x as wide and there should be a grand entrance at Laclede into the Park and access/signage to Steinberg Rink - it's as if no one imagine that anyone would walk to the park!!! The Laclede entrance would hook up with the path leading over the Metro bridge. I think West Pine works well with traffic and don't mind it staying there, but there should be some shelter/cover in that corner park. It's not inviting to get there and once you're there, there's nothing for you.

These guys also own the apartment building on the south side of W. Pine at Kingshighway.

I was told the owner has the penthouse in the Parc Frontenac and uses it relatively often. Makes we wonder what his plans are - wouldn't he like a nice, new crib? If nothing else it seems that the Parc is in need of a revamp. There's a parking structure behind the building - hopefully that could be added to.

Sterling owns a few other properties in St. Louis - The Laclede Gas Building, the BofA building on Lindell, The Dorchester (I think?), etc.
