Maryland between Taylor and Newstead. Great row of houses.

Right of course. It’s an iconic block 😊
That full three story home in the middle of the shot is uniquely iconic. Think it sold a few years back for $780k.

I should disclose I live on the block so likely I’m biased but every house is uniquely different. It’s like a fashion show as you walk by…..
and yes that tall one is the crown jewel 🤩

Might be that private street entrance off Union. Kingsbury place I think.
Think I recall one of the wealthy residents daughters posed for that sculpture?
Didn’t know the backstory, but you and SP are correct.  The Kingsbury gate.
It was Imran. I didn't recognize the statue. I just know the story, mostly on account of having a very well worn copy of the McCue-Peters guide. (Which really needs an update at this point. It's now older than the first edition of McCue's Building Art in St. Louis was at the time of the guide's publication.)

Ah, gotcha.  Well, I'll throw in another (probably very easy) one:

^I love that building. A friend has his office in there. (Or at least used to. I think he still does.) It's really quite glorious. And the refurb did wonders for the dome.

I think a friend of mine still works there too. At least he was the one that walked me around when I took this picture. One of the best renovations downtown in my opinion.

Wasn’t it condemned at one point?

^Not that I'm aware of. At least not recently. I was first in there in the mid 90s and so far as I know it's been occupied continuously since then. But I haven't checked carefully and I've only visited my friend's office once or maybe twice.

Yeah you’re probably right. BSL doesn’t say much about it. Some good pictures from before the 2004 renovation though and yeah it looked like it was still in pretty good shape.

I must be thinking of a different building. God knows there have been plenty historic buildings brought back from the dead in this town.

Snapped this when SP and I were walking around. Anyone know what it is?

I always thought those were some kind of fire siren.

If I had to guess, I would say some sort of vent for something underground. Is that a solar panel attached to it?

^ That is a solar panel attached to it.  I also assumed a siren of some kind...but it looks old as sh*t.  No way it's a civil defense siren.  Maybe it used to be an old fire call box or alarm...though the solar panel leaves other questions.

Natural Gas regulator vent pipe with solar powered monitoring device.

I think there's one at Sublette and Arsenal in front of the firehouse, so I was buying the emergency siren idea, lol!

There was a space for lease in that building a few months ago so I was poking around there. It is an odd little thing to find.
