I tweeted Jive and Wail about when their Washington Avenue spot would open. Their response:

The Jive and Wail TheJiveandWail

@Rencelas Not sure. End of summer maybe? Gonna be very different from the other two locations.

I saw the other day that they are trying to vacate 13th street north of washington. I'm assuming the Mcgowans want patio space for J&W (or whatever restaurant ends up there) and to make a mini-promenade for the other businesses in fashion square.

13th is already shot to hell, buteventually Washington will be a insular tube if we keep doing this...

Tough call - 13th street doesn't intersect Washington Avenue and unless the lofts are torn down it can't go through. It's a weird half-block street that does north just one additional block to surface parking lots.

Closing 13th shouldn't be that big a deal. I live nearby and have used the parking lots back there before; the biggest problem goes to those who use that day lot for the Fitness Factory. Otherwise, sounds like they're just going to knock out those cobblestones and put up tables & chairs for two or three new restaurants.

Plus, when I look at 13th closed from Lucas to St. Charles, I don't think it's that big a deal and could always be reopened at some future time. Plus, they're only filled with planters and sidewalks, not land mines; not hard to change at a lter date.

13th does intersect Washington. The south side is already closed where the Lucas Park Grille patio is.

Having 13th closed at St Charles seems to create a pretty unfortunate dead alley space.

13th being open could make a better connection from Lucas Ave South past Lucas Park, the Shell Building, a newly renovated Library and the Park Pacific project.

I think they should open 13th street up to through traffic from Locust to Lucas. We shouldnt be closing streets to accomodate patios for restaurants.

Ah - I read it as closing 13th behind the new lofts and not on Washington Ave. Yes, streets connecting to Washington Ave. should be kept open!

They are not closing the entire street, just the eastern portion of the street for a sidewalk cafe. There will still be at least one lane of traffic. They only vacated a portion of the street for the development.

Glad it won't be closed.

Will this make it a one way street? Or is it already one way?

It is a one way street already but nobody cares. Maybe this will help.

Very Nice. Love the balconies facing 13th. Would be great to chill on one while watching the action on Washington.
