When might a nuclear plant designed in 2026 come online? 2040?
Meanwhile we could deploy some wind and solar every year.

It wouldn't be, even with a space elevator. The amount of Delta V to shoot something into the sun just isn't really something that could be sustainably or economically done on a regular basis.dredger wrote: ↑1:01 AM - Apr 10I honestly think it might be easier and at this point cheaper just to put our crap in a SpaceX or whoever's rocket & shoot it at the Sun. But can't how many decades that might take for approvals considering...
Nuclear can get 40-80 years of life. Wind only lasts ~15 years.quincunx wrote:1.5GW of solar and wind would be way cheaper and quicker to build, smh.
Hallelujah! Now build another couple NPPs.ldai_phs wrote: ↑2:03 PM - Jul 15Ameren looking at a 1.5 GW expansion of Calloway. Trying to leverage federal funding for new nuclear plants

The Sioux Coal plant would close three years later than planned in 2023, while the Labadie plant would keep all four units operational until 2042, when two were originally set to retire in 2036.
