"Soul on Fire", a movie filmed entirely in St. Louis, set to release in theaters on October 10.  My daughter had a non-speaking role in the film and we are all really excited for it's release!

He can't make a movie here, but at least James Gunn can nod to his hometown.

Looks like most of his Superman movie was shot in Cleveland.

Soul on Fire trailer is now out.  Launches in theaters October 10.  My daughter who had a non-speaking role even makes a cameo in the trailer which is super cool as a Dad.  Go check it out, should be a great one!

My family was lucky enough to attend an STL Premier showing of this movie Soul on Fire last night.  Amazing story, and it has lots of shots around town including Kiener Plaza, Busch Stadium, Maplewood, SLU, and a few aerial views of the city.  We haven't really had a movie highlight this amount of St. Louis shots since Up in the Air over a decade ago.

So I've been trying to figure out what sort of messaging this film carries. As the studio that produced it tends to be faith based...was this an overtly religious movie you'd say? Or is this produced as a general mainstream feel-good sort of story ala  "The Blind Side" or " Rudy"?

It's not overtly religious. I would be put off if it was. A few references to faith being important to John and his family. But the story really centers on everyday heroes like his family, Jack Buck, and others.

^I've been thinking that thing should be a movie since I first read the story a bunch of years back. (Put one of the heroes in my GTA Arc City video.)

Should we count this quote as a win against St. Louis's crime-ridden stereotype?

“Why I wanted to set it in the Midwest was that people who don’t live in the Midwest make these suppositions that the people who live there are a little more normal. St. Louis became a way to surprise the audience with what actually is taking place behind these closed doors, in a place you have mistakenly assumed was pretty peaceful and quiet.”

Isn’t there a murder?

Is it a murder? Or does the character simply die happy a little more than he was supposed to? The trailer didn't really make that clear. Seemed like a mystery.

Not sure if this is exactly the right spot for this but apparently a film studio and esports arena is going in in Wood River. First I’d heard of it.
