I suspect the people behind this are greasing the palms of as many alderpersons that they can in the meantime
I will support this project if it comes with a $500 million donation to N-S MetroLink.
Come on, that’s an extreme and untrue statement. You don’t have to like her but she was “put” in power by the voters that overwhelmingly rejected the previous administration, and I’m quite sure that her platform was not to rape and pillage the city.JaneJacobsGhost wrote:Would be nice to have someone like Tina Pihl and Tishuara still in city hall demanding that this developer make a hefty donation to housing fund before getting approval.
But we have Cara who was put in power specifically for the purpose of letting big business continue to rape and pillage the city.
The beat goes on.

Stop with the rape references. It could be a very triggering reference for visitors and members of the forum.JaneJacobsGhost wrote: ↑Sep 25, 2025Would be nice to have someone like Tina Pihl and Tishuara still in city hall demanding that this developer make a hefty donation to housing fund before getting approval.

Did she even have a platform other than "I'm not Tishuara Jones"?
Besides, no one has ever said voters make the most intelligent decisions. It's the curse of democracy, after all.

Tina Pihl was awful she nearly derailed every development in the CWE & Cortex. We can’t go back to another Tina Pihl at least Jones was more pro development than Pihl.

I think it’s going to be hard to stop this project now. Someone would have to come up with a better plan for the 2 sites.

No. And don’t come at me with this pedantic moral high ground bs. You’re just another land developer bro who wants the city tax payer’s wallet wide openSTLAPTS wrote: ↑Sep 26, 2025Stop with the rape references. She was absolutely “put” in power. By Bob Clark, Robert Vitale, Louis Cella etc. It’s in the campaign finance records.

Talk about ignorance. Development went dormant in Cortex and CWE for the same reason it went dormant EVERYWHERE ELSE IN THE METRO AREA: inflation, high interest rates and bank failures.PlatinumBlues wrote: ↑Sep 26, 2025Tina Pihl was awful she nearly derailed every development in the CWE & Cortex. No. It just basic decency. Also, you keep calling me a bro. I don’t get that.JaneJacobsGhost wrote: ↑Sep 26, 2025No. And don’t come at me with this pedantic moral high ground bs. I've yet to hear the case that makes the deal appealing to anyone including the city officials. They're going to spend a lot of money to build it...that's basically the whole pitch? It brings minimal jobs, uses excessive resources, doesn't just bring nothing from a development standpoint but actually makes the area around it less attractive for future investment. What's the appeal from the powers that be other than maybe greased palms?

You always have a name to call someone like you’re better than everyone else. High inflation blah blah doesn’t take from the fact that Tina was awful as alderwoman likely reason she got voted out so quickly but you keep beating your drums & such calling people this & that. A long hike can do you some good you sound like an unhappy person.JaneJacobsGhost wrote:Talk about ignorance. You would have to imagine that for this to be approved the tax fee would not be incentivized/abated in anyway. That is the allure. Full 100 taxable land, improvements and business.jbacott wrote: ↑Sep 26, 2025I've yet to hear the case that makes the deal appealing to anyone including the city officials. Support for Pihl was not what I expected on this forum. I thought this crowd was unanimously opposed to her. She was completely incompetent.PlatinumBlues wrote: ↑Sep 26, 2025You always have a name to call someone like you’re better than everyone else. If given a chance, the foundry team would take a stab at developing the lots and the armory as an extension of the Foundry, especially with the ped bridge connection on the way

This will be the best case scenario I hope that they’re able to get the land & develop it. Data centers don’t belong in the heart of the city
