Should have been more clear- he said the city was doing the concrete sidewalk work.walker wrote: ↑Sep 09, 2025Located don’t work like that. The utilities, incl. city traffic, are sent locate tickets based on their area of responsibility, they paint their locates, then the work proceeds.
Traffic is a “utility” w/in the locate system, same as water, Ameren, spire, etc.

Scott O does updates on Twitter. I would assume he’ll eventually confirm whether this is related to the cycle track.

DB's greatest harm to our city is trying to paint a rosey picture while ignoring the real issues we have. The first step in recovery is admitting there is a problem, because then you can start to fix it. There are many great things in the city which is why I choose to live here, however I also acknowledge that there are major problems that must be resolved. He literally lives in an ivory tower while so many people and businesses struggle. There is a reason black middle class families have had to flee to the county and population continues it dramatic fall. Until we start acknowledging the issues, the city overall will continue to decline.

This is just a really bad take. You think St Louis’ problem is a lack of acknowledgement of our issues? We excel at acknowledging our issues. There isn’t any region that’s better at it.southcitykid wrote: ↑Sep 13, 2025DB's greatest harm to our city is trying to paint a rosey picture while ignoring the real issues we have. The biggest negative of social media and internet in general is the amount of brain rotting it has done to so many people.
It’s not like I’ve appeared in fox2, KMOX and STL magazine (3x) over the last ten days raising the issue of open air drug use in downtown and got the city to finally act on the main park where it’s been taking place.

DB literally does point out issues all the time. You don't live in real life.
Same. You can acknowledge the good and bad in parallel and still work to drive change.courtland wrote: ↑Sep 13, 2025I for one appreciates, DB. Wish we had hundreds more like him.

I'm ready for the BJ article on the Sheraton Hotel in the Edison Building. Been waiting on that for years.dbInSouthCity wrote: ↑Sep 18, 2025I suspect this will be a very active thread in the next 6 weeks or so. A lot happening

Hotel occupancy in the city ticked up 3.6% to 59.1% in FY25. The period of May-July was the best period for city hotels ever, selling more nights than they ever had before.
This bucks a national trend where tourism has generally been down.

What was implied was that the hotel occupancy would have been better if the Cardinals were good. I think everyone can agree that is the case.

I would say on a weekend home stand about 250-400 hotel rooms are cardinals fans in 2022 or 2023 season. This year probably 50-75
There is alot of one Cardinal way residents that are march to Sept residence and then go back to their main residence. Usually retires or those that work from home and die heart fans
Another group is player families, a friend of mine leases downtown units to 14 players this year and rest of the building is usually their families in for a home stand

John Mozeliak made some interesting comments on the TMA radio show today, as he gets ready to leave the Cardinals:
-He brought up public safety in the city as one of the factors that has hurt attendance and is a real issue that needs to be solved
-He expressed his desire for Downtown St. Louis to see a revitalization for the benefit of the region. He specifically mentioned the Millenium Hotel development as a positive step.
-They briefly discussed the upcoming Busch Stadium renovations, and said he “hopes” the Cardinals stay Downtown.
I don’t think they have any plans to leave Downtown whatsoever, but if Downtown is still struggling in 10-15 years, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Cardinals start considering a move to the suburbs for Busch Stadium IV.

It makes sense, the cardinals drew 3.4m fans in 2022 despite downtown crime being 30% higher than 2025
