^ Agree but my gut feeling first half doesn't include the new single access security/customs/immigration area but simply the gates themselves.   With that in mind can see demo going very quick and the possibility of Modular construction for the gates themselves.   Essentially when the demo, utility relocation and new foundation work starts you could literally start constructing concourses away from the site and roll the structures into place.  At that point it is a linear but much quicker construction sequence.

I think DFW rebuilds and in new terminal construction incorporated as such and want to say ATL rebuild/remodel as well.

I have heard it will be utilitarian to keep costs down. So I would think that would also help it build faster. 2 years still seems quick but if they can pull it off.. great. I dont think it probably will have customs either yet.

Is there any plan to improve the general entrance and highway around the airport? It could really use some beautification, because currrently it looks horrible.

A lot of the roads will be redone. The garage is going to get torn down and redone.

How much “beautification” will be done, not sure.

I would LOVE something similar to the SLC design.  It's beautiful and very functional.

NEW-ish ROUTE!
Frontier is adding nonstop service to Phoenix

2x a week starts October 10 currently runs through Jan 5

Also, apple vacations lists Frontier as running flight to Puerto Vallarta Jan 24 to March 21 once a week. Alaska also was supposed to run that flight again so not sure what it up with that. I can’t imagine they both run it.

I do too.  But, isn't our budget a little more than half of what SLC cost?

I've also asked about BB25 and consolidated rentals terminal-side to alders.  Seems it would enshrine that no consolidated rental facility could exist in a 'walkable' distance from the terminal, not just Turo.

Given this, I imagine there's no plan for terminal side rental.  If that's the case, yet another missed opportunity and not entirely too hopeful on the level of thought process of the new terminal as a whole.  But, I guess I'll hold out.

To me that's going to be one of our biggest misses.

Best it was ever going to be was where T2 is now. But at this point it doesn’t seem to be a priority.

Looking through BB25 it seems it would include a process to amend it if necessary. It mostly looks to be aimed at preventing car sharing companies from using the gig economy to undercut the ride share companies that are actually paying the airport to do business there. While there isn't a plan to build a consolidated facility yet, this will free up space and I can't believe anyone would really rule it out for the future. I really think this is just trying to prevent bad silicon valley actors from using the parking lots to stage rentals closer to the terminal, undercutting their competition and avoiding having to pay licensing fees. I can see where you might be nervous about the thing, and maybe I'm wrong, but it can always be revised in the future.

My understanding is that consolidating car rentals onto airport property is not just a cost issue, but a political one. Each rental facility is in one of these cities that shouldn't exist around the airport, and each of those cities relies on the tax revenue.
Enterprise is in Berkeley. Hertz is in Woodson Terrace. Avis is in Edmundson.
Our very dumb reality.

That shouldn’t be the airports problem or concern.

Minneapolis has a fantastic rental car system in multi story garages at each terminal. Literally walk right from the terminal to your car, no shuttle needed. Building one of these at T2 would be by far the best use for the space, especially if you can fit a hotel in there as well. I assume the rental car companies would also foot a chunk of the bill? Not sure how it is structured in other areas

Puerto Vallarta is now bookable on Alaska site for late January thru March.

PostAug 08, 2025#8991

A bit surprised how well Canada is doing. Maybe we can swing that Vancouver flight. Lufthansa just keeps on keeping on

International loads (Customs) July
Frankfurt 95.18% - includes an inbound diversion to STL. So it may skew it a bit. DOT numbers will fix it.
Toronto 86.57%
Southwest Montego Bay 84.50%
Montreal 82.52%
Southwest Cabo 72.19%

Can't break out Punta Cana and Cancun numbers due to Southwest and Frontier running it.

I'd much prefer Air Canada but would be happy with West Jet to YVR.

I flew roundtrip on the STL-YUL AC flight last month. Economy was packed. I sat in business class and it was over half full. I went to see friends in Montreal, but it seemed most of the people on the flight were connecting to Europe. Also, at check-in it was nice to both the YYZ and YUL passengers checking in at the same time, looked packed at the counters and the 3 Air Canada jets at Lambert, especially the two A220s. Too bad the A220s are seasonal along will the YUL route, I wonder will they make a return next year? They are very comfortable especially when compared to the CRJs.

Big Southwest network shakeup today in the March extension

Good: Puerto Vallarta added!

Bad: Little Rock, Tulsa, Charlotte, Des Moines, OKC, Wichita all have been cut.

Montego, Punta Cana are back. W Palm Beach is daily (double on Sat)

I’ll need to see what frequencies were added elsewhere to make up for the cuts. But not the ideal situation.

Wichita and Des Moines were moved back to Midway
Tulsa and Little Rock to Nashville

Is it possible SW is just waiting for us to get our expansion on track and giving us some room to work with here as we reshuffle airlines? It's SO crowded in T2, it's just not set up to host as much connecting traffic as it does at the moment. I would assume the majority of the traffic on those routes outside of Charlotte was connecting.

Maybe I am just summoning hope out of thin air. I hope somebody from the airport addresses this.

MCI went from small destination to even smaller destination for Southwest today. Also big cuts to DEN. DEN-BDL/BUF/ORF/PVD/ALB/CHS/CLT cut

The STL cuts make sense for a struggling Southwest Airlines. IMO, the terminal 2 facilities (bathrooms, food, baggage, etc) are at capacity for connecting traffic. Southwest can offer those smaller Midwest destinations better connection options and experience out of BNA/MDW.

WNs intentions in STL are clearer when looking at the new terminal. They’re not going anywhere.

Southwest
March Flights per day (last year)
Friday 109 (120)
Saturday 106 (111)
Sunday 110 (124)

Just under a 10% cut. We’ll see what comes next.

In better news. Lufthansa flight was the only Germany to USA route for Lufthansa that was above 90% full in May.

International Loads STL for May
Frankfurt 91.84% (97% outbound)
Southwest Cancun 85.25%
Frontier Cancun 72.65%
Frontier Punta Cana64.13%
AC Montreal 62.08% (77.5% outbound)
AC Toronto 53.35%

With the new Puerto Vallarta addition it means 10 international flights on Saturdays in March for customs. (Doesn’t include Canada or San Juan)

Customs arrival times Saturdays in March

1300 Southwest Cancun
1515 AA Cancun
1525 Southwest Cancun
1705 Southwest Cabo
1738 Alaska Puerto Vallarta
1735 Southwest Montego Bay
1745 Southwest Punta Cana
1800 Southwest Puerto Vallarta
???? Frontier Cancun
???? Frontier Punta Cana

I assume that this has a lot do with majority of passengers heading to Midway or Nashville from those respective cities/departures are not connecting but making those trips for biz/tourist reasons.   Can see a lot of Wichita and Des Moines folks heading to CHI town for business reasons and a lot of Tulsa & Little Rock folks headed to Nashville for tourism.  Kinda has the old city to city pair vs legacy hub and spoke.  Yes, stereotyping but that what came to mind.

I have kept up my Delta and added AA for my recent biz trips and haven't flown Southwest lately.  So no feel on how assigned seating playing out on Southwest.   However, definite change in upgrade availability on my last several trips as more seats seems available the higher the price.  Don't have much status on AA and even got an upgrade a couple nights ago on way home,
