A330s are all going to be retired by Lufthansa by 2027 so something else has to be coming. I still think a A350s layout makes more sense for us but I’m guessing we end up with 787s at some point. Might be next summer.mtl_stl wrote: ↑Jul 11, 2025Has there been any talk of the route having any other type of plane besides the 330 if the frequency changed? I’m assuming new deliveries just mean other routes getting the new aircraft and STL gets more 330 since they would be available. Instead of something like if Aer Lingus got new XLRs and added a route, it would need to be on the new aircraft.jshank83 wrote: ↑Jul 08, 2025They announced yesterday they are going to start taking deliveries of their 787s. They have a bunch sitting at Boeing waiting for the new business class seats to be approved by the FAA. They have 15 coming by next summer. Apparently they are going to fly them with business class mostly blocked off if they have to. I’d guess if they are starting to take delivery now they figure it can’t be long before the seats are approved.TheWayoftheArch_V2.0 wrote: ↑Jul 08, 2025I thought LH had already stated a desire (if not intent) to expand to daily but were waiting on Airbus or Boeing to deliver planes. Thought entirely an equipment issue.
Nice, didn’t realize they were retiring all their A330s. Would be nice to have something brand new on the route! But they’d better go to 5 days a week at least, no more capacity excusesjshank83 wrote: ↑Jul 11, 2025A330s are all going to be retired by Lufthansa by 2027 so something else has to be coming. Someone at the airport or Southwest wasn’t in the loop about the massive conference downtown and therefore didn’t staff baggage appropriately.
All the Seventh Day Adventists in town for a two week conference are flying Southwest in order to leave our fair city.

The airlines make it so easy. SouthPark’s “IT” is just as prescient now as it was 20+ years ago.
Sad thing is people will remember this and complain about Lambert when it’s Southwest’s fault

Sunday was the "busiest day ever" at Lambert International Airport.
^ My first thought. Busiest day since TWA no longer existed?
But good news either way. Talk about a strong Lambert future between current Boeing plans/construction underway and when new T1 concourse breaks ground. I think the changes will be huge and like the new runway will significantly alter Lamber again. I also think the new T1 concourse will open the door for eventual on site consolidated rental car facility, more on site structrred parking and on site hotel into the mix.
Now if i could wave the magic wand to convince everyone not to leave metrolink as is and instead a new vision that alters the track alignment & new T1 metrolink station that enables a possible western extension. Even if that extension still remains in St. Louis County and doesn't get across the river. Just a small vision, just something to grasp onto and build existing spine line.

News at 6 PM clarified it was the largest single day since 2001, which would have been when TSA was formed. That is still 20+ years. The convention certainly helped. I do hope with peaks like this, extra capacity is created for growth.
Oh - and on STL Today, comments suggested passengers for STL use the train and fly out of the new KCI. I did not comment this was a one time event, but it seems like readers did not always acknowledge it.

KCI is 21 mi from KCY. 75 mins by transit.
30 mins by Metrolink from STL to STL.

It should have been the most originating traffic day ever, as in people starting here and not counting connecting traffic. We have been above the TWA days in number of people starting and ending their trips here, when you strip out connecting traffic. Just shows how much was connecting here back then.STLCityMike wrote: ↑Jul 14, 2025News at 6 PM clarified it was the largest single day since 2001, which would have been when TSA was formed. Updated my gate assignment graphic for when D reopens. Sun Country I just put on one of the city gates, that one could get moved, if they are even still around.
At some point I might update the planes to the right airline but for now you just get copy and pastes.

When D reopens will it be possible to walk between C, D, and E without re-entering security?
I can't wait to see all the C and D gates in use again, when is the move out of A scheduled to happen?
Delta's dinky planes are going to look extra dinky at the end of C.
Southwest announced non-stop flights to St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. They did not say what airports would get those flights, but St. Louis does have non-stops to some of SWA's existing Caribbean destinations including: Cancun, Montego Bay, Punta Cana, and San Juan.

I would guess daily Orlando with Baltimore mixed in on weekends. That’s how they run grand cayman and Turks and Caicos. Seems like this would be similar.TalkinDev wrote: ↑Jul 17, 2025Southwest announced non-stop flights to St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. How long again before they start on our new airport concourses?
It should look something like Salt Lake City's new concourses designed by HOK.
Here are a couple photos of current where they've stopped with only a short concourse for B, but have space for someday expanding it to look like the artist's conception picture.
And here is a link to HOK's SLC terminal page with more photos. https://www.hok.com/projects/view/salt- ... -terminal/

Current plan is first half opens 2028 (will be all airlines except Southwest and maybe Lufthansa) the 2nd half opens 2030 or 2031.gary kreie wrote: ↑Jul 19, 2025Thanks. I wasn’t sure if that was a demolition or a temp remodel. Is there a projected end date? Took SLC 6 years for construction. I assume some gates will shift back to the new west end of the new concourse as a phase to demolish C & D.

I’m a bit skeptical of the 2028 date though. Two year tear down and rebuild seem fast.
