With regard to the snow issues and the streets
Quite frankly I wouldn't go down some of the tight streets we have all over the region at any time of year
I worry about taking out somebody's vehicle door
that someone suddenly opened let alone a snow plow venturing down those streets
An earlier poster summed it up; its just the way it is and will be.
Not every street is an Olive, Manchester,, Market 1st Capital Dr........
To the subject specific:  If you want better snow removal hire more people  offer pay better pay/ benefits, better/newer equipment, better organization from the top.  Have community meetings regarding all of this (bring your pictures) ...

Why are you such a tool, Auggie?

Here's a zoomed in pic.  The entire right westbound lane is covered and impassible.  You're in denial, man.  Go and see for yourself. Or don't. No one really cares what you have to say about it.Snowpic5.jpg
Drove down Clayton yesterday. Zero issue. I guess you're the type that would rather them push the snow up on the sidewalk so people can't walk anywhere?

Love seeing car brains foam at the mouth over 1/4 lanes being covered in snow meanwhile every sidewalk is covered, every bus stop is blocked, even saw a "temporary bus stop" on Lindbergh yesterday because they used the normal one to put snow.

Grow the ***** up buddy. Or just keep sending pictures of clear streets and act like they're actually covered.

No personal attacks. If you can't discuss the issue as an adult, don't discuss it at all.

I studied the city plow map which was developed after the '14 storm.  The city took the time to map out hills needing to be addressed.  Apparently they didn't buy the necessary equipment to execute the plan.  10 years later you have a repeat.  That's a complete failure.  Hope the needs are met before next winter.  Should be a top priority.  Three trucks isn't going to cut it.

Sorry you had a bad day, Auggie!  Why don't you eat a gummy and chill, bro. You're the only one getting bent out of shape on an online forum for city nerds, not me. I'm quite sure we'd get along great if we knew each other in real life (maybe we do?), so stop treating everyone who has a different point of view as if they're your enemy.

"I guess you're the type that would rather them push the snow up on the sidewalk so people can't walk anywhere?"  LOL. The city did a pretty lousy job in that regard too.

Where do you want to put the snow smart-ass? You b**** about parking and 1/4 lanes on a road, but apparently the sidewalk is the wrong place too? Do you think they have a magic wand? Good Lord.

Why not study other metro plans? St. Louis isn’t the only city that experiences snow events like what we experienced the past week. A friend in Cleveland mentioned they are piloting a program to fashion garbage trucks with snow plows.

Looking into it, I also appreciated their snow response plan with timelines to clear by snowfall, seen here: https://www.clevelandohio.gov/city-hall ... -snow-plan

Are these autonomous trucks? Because the city has no shortage of equipment of any kind.

Definitely not an AI bot. Just a human being who has been driving around all week and haven't had or seen any trouble since the day after the snowfall. But then being told by social media and the news that actually all the roads are still covered and tons of people are getting stuck.

And being told on this forum that, in fact, it was a disaster response when there is next to no evidence to support that assertion. And then I ask for images, and all I get are pictures of literally clear streets.

I typically don't agree with Auggie.  However, main roads and secondary roads, at least in Southwest City, are clear and easy to navigate.

Main and secondary roads have been fine in the TG area too. Same goes for the parts of the Gate, CWE, and Midtown that I’ve travelled in.

Everything is "fine" now for sure.

Auggie, what type of car do you drive?  Maybe that is directly influencing your perception of drivability.

The streets being clear influences my perception of driveabiliy.

I’ve not lied once. Merely your perception based on your rather limited exposure to the world around you.

I will take the offered map previously posted showing the multitude of complaints as the truth, as opposed to your singular, anecdotal, and particularly petulant perspective.

You've literally posted pictures of clear to pavement streets and said that they're snowcovered. You're about as reliable as Francis Slay.

Excuse me?  The residential hilly areas were absolutely mapped.  They are not part of the typical city plow routes.  The mayor herself said the city didn't have right-sized plows for these streets.  I don't write fiction Sir August.

Today would be Day 10 with no garbage pickup and no mail. When the garbage does gets picked up I'm probably going to have some work to do to get the alley cleaned up and also the dumpsters will probably be overflowing the next day. As far as mail, I generally don't care it's always hit and miss. Just so happens I'm kinda waiting for something via USPS right now.

If the City were to give a reason as to why 10 days with no garbage or mail the answer would probably be "the streets are not clear". You can mull that over with the argument about the streets, FWIW.

I AM NOT COMPLAINING AND I AM NOT A COMPLAINER.

The narrow side streets that have never been plowed before and aren't on the map to be plowed weren't plowed? Shocker.
