He had a great relationship with the Taylor’s. Sad.

There will be a press conference at 1:00. Dustin Allison will take over, unsure if it’s on interim or permanent bases. Currently he is in charge of real estate at GSL

Pretty bad for STL. Columbus will probably listen to him unlike STL.

I’d recommend everyone calm down. Much of what made Jason a successful leader is staying in St. Louis. This was never a one man job. Taylor family wasn’t investing in Jason. There are many talented leaders in GSL and I expect all those involved know (better than most here) what is lost and the type of leader needed to keep the progress.

"I always looked to Columbus as the national model of regional collaboration"

And STL is a national example for regional competition.

He left because of our regional dysfunction, no doubt about it. Why else would a native St. Louisan leave?

This spring he had to take a management training class due to internal complaints about his leadership style.   I dont know how much if anything that played into a decision to look elsewhere.   Dozen of staff have or are departing.      Whatever it was, this is a massive lose for the region and a massive gain for Columbus.  I talk to Jason regularly, he was always open to hearing ideas and also hearing criticism

Yeah, I can't see any way in which this isn't a massive loss for St. Louis.

I’m guessing some snowflakes in the office couldn’t handle being told:

1) They were wrong
2) They were lazy
3) They need to work at office
4) They need to work late,

They complained, made him do a BS anger management class, and the he said “fukkk u” I’m going to a metro area that has its schitt together.

My guess.

Hey if the grass is truly greener & growing why stay in a region that’s brown & near death? Clearly St.Louis isn’t serious about growth & more of the same stale leadership day in & day out. Maybe Donald Trump should come in & fire them all for incompetence 🙄

This current convo is pretty much why I’m pulling away from UrbanSTL. This used to be a fairly levelheaded crowd with a few experts to guide the conversation… now everyone panics over standard leadership change for an organization that didn’t exist five years ago.

Get a grip on reality people.

Yeah overreaction. The guy who had a great relationship with our First Family in terms of charity, civic engagement and civic involvement is leaving. Let’s all relax, everything is fine.

Yeah, I’m sure Jason’s #2 for more than six years at both Arch to Park and Greater STL Inc has a much different relationship. The guy who manages real estate, including the GSL real estate investment portfolio of the Taylor Family.

Not to mention, three years as general counsel for the Economic Development Partnership before that.

The fact that people actually care that some CEO of a regional chamber of commerce is taking a new job is refreshing. Maybe StL is getting better?

its a little different, this one was first in a while that wasn't living in West Co.  that didn't cater to West Co. and prioritized STL City first and foremost.

Feel free to decline to answer:
Since you are closer to the situation, do you have confidence that somebody in-house can jump in & fill the role or do you believe this position will have to be filled from outside the organization?
Did Jason leave for an opportunity he couldn't refuse (pay-advancement, etc)...or .... Was this related to personnel issues/personality clashes internally..... or..... Was this a situation where he truly believes he is not getting anywhere with our local government structure and lack of regional cooperation?
I am surprised that he would leave a City he has worked so hard for, been a part of for so long and made so many connections, for a City he is not familiar with. I know Columbus has nice growth, capital city, major name university and nice corporate base, but starting from scratch and leaving a place you likely care about is a tough move. It must have been quite an offer.

^ Dustin Allison is very capable.  I wouldn’t be surprised if he ultimately gets the interim tag taken off, unless he just wants to focus on the real estate role he’s had.

As far as why Hall is leaving, I think it’s more personal in nature where he and his husband needed a fresh start. And that should always be a priority even in professional settings. I think he’ll get more pay but I doubt if he asked for a match here that it wouldn’t be accepted. Sometimes people approach or reach certain age milestones and take a stock of what they’ve done and want to do and come out of that with a decision to leave a comfort zone

I wish him the best of luck on his endeavorers in Columbus while it’s always sad to see people leave it’s a reminder he’s going to a place where he’ll likely be happier. Columbus has a lot going for it I just wish St.Louis was in a position to really leap forward & be in the same place as some cities such as Columbus Minneapolis Denver Detroit Kansas City Indianapolis & Nashville maybe even throw Cleveland in the mix. We’ll see how the 4 years play out. If things change for the better or remain the same.

I don’t see it in any metric on regional basis

This article seems to imply it was his spat with Megan Green over the GSL’s recommended approach to spending the Ram’s money that led to his departure.
