Hopefully AC makes the YUL a daily year round flight and not seasonal. It seems the demand for it has been a success!

In Spain now.  Took Air Canada STL to YUL to Madrid.  The CRJ900 is really a nice plane actually.  Very comfy and all Air Canada CRJ900's have in seat TV screens with free entertainment, flight tracking, music etc.  Feels very much more upscale.
Our YUL to MAD flight was nice, but the 787 is not as nice as the A330 in Lufthansa IMO.  The 787 3-3-3 config. is not great for couples or 2-somes. The Air Canada staff on both planes were nice but nothing spectacular (compared to Lufthansa) and the food was marginal.  The premium economy seats are a far cry from what Lufthansa's premium economy is (much less on AC they had just a handful of the upgrades).  We weren't impressed with the cleanliness, food or the 787 layout.  Lufthansa is far above in all of those classes IMO.
But, overall, the ease of the Montréal connection was nice.  Montreal's Airport is not the big (smaller footprint and capacity than STL) but efficient and they cram a heck of a lot of services in the space they have which makes it nice for a layover.

Lufthansa's premium economy was the worse I have ever experienced on an airline. The fact that you found something even worse is impressive lol.

Out of curiosity how would you compare it to United’s. I flew theirs on a 787 last year and am probably flying Lufthansa next year. Just wondered the differences.

I think United is much better. LH wasn't a bad experience, quite the contrary actually. I just didn't find it worth it. You got an amenity kit and a bigger seat, but nothing else was different than economy. Same service, same bathrooms, same food. If they had branded it as main cabin extra and priced it as such, I would have had a much better review. On a US airline, you at least get elevated service and meals. On an Asian or Middle Eastern airline, you basically get J service without lie flat. Air India and Vistara blew me away. Welcome drinks, multi-course meal on a 45-minute flight, 2 full meals and 3 snacks (as in meal snacks) on the TPAC flight. Some of the star alliance Asian airlines still fly US-Europe if you want to experience them without going all the way. Might be fun to do that while heading to Europe then take the direct flight back. I think Air India may have stopped their flight once the SFO-BOM/DEL flights started but Singapore I know still does.

In the airport redesign, is the design as such that a Metrolink extension going west from the airport is possible? Since you wouldn't want to design it in a way where it makes it harder to do such a thing.

The walking conveyer belt area is blocked off in T2. I assume they are getting it up to snuff for when they open D

You would hope so for the sake of the region.  I don't think you even need to go underground.  Have the realignment stay elevated while leaving space/engineering the T1 parking structure to accommodate a future replacement station while allowing westward extension seems like a no brainer.    I think a westward extension even if it stays within the county is a benefit to the system and two, any hopes of a future expansion across the Missouri River and into St. Charles County will happen if there is direct airport access in my opinion.

But I get it, half the crowd will say the status quo is good enough for another half century while the other thinks it would cost too much to incorporate a future plan going forward.   Cynical because i think the Lambert's new concourse is way overdue and they are doing a good job pushing for the future on that front but the one item that really seems lacking from city, county and bi-state leadership is incorporating a plan that would incorporate metrolink westward expansion...  just a huge missed opportunity.

My employer closed an operations center downtown and moved it to Earth City, I know those who used metro to get to work would appreciate access to the new facility.

Anyone know anything about this? This is seriously a bad look and these moving walkways were essential since this is such a long distance for many connecting with Southwest.

I have emailed the airport with no replies.

Not happy about this.

If they’re under repair/improvement, why is it a bad look?

Let's first get a bigger population in our city before we try and make one of these. As it is we are already making these in Chesterfield and St. Charles

It appears that SW is no longer going forward with adding 2 new baggage claims, this thing got planned years ago and it kinda dragged on during covid and now with the new terminal on the way it may be not worth it.

I guess we will know in the next year if the rumors are true.

"Separately, the company confirmed that it is in line to get two Airbus A321 extra-long-range (XLR) jets from its owner, International Airlines’ Group (IAG), later this year. The aircraft can cover distances between Ireland and North America, but at a lower cost than most long-haul jets, opening potential new transatlantic routes for Aer Lingus.

IAG could allocate up to six XLRs to the Irish carrier altogether, with the remaining four arriving next year."
