That’s one of the most racist and stupidest things I’ve heard on this forum.   DEI programs help find the best candidates, not just the white candidates.  It’s ridiculous how many adults are too stupid to realize that. You’re one of those people who thinks every time a white person gets a job it’s because they’re the best candidate when most of the time it’s simply because they’re white and the hiring manager was white and felt more comfortable with someone they easily identified with

Give me most competent candidate whether they’re red, yellow, black or white.

The above post sounds, at the end, dare I say, racist?

Hardly. Implicit bias in job hiring is a very well studied phenomenon.

Steve Roberts keeps getting mentioned as a likely candidate. Really hope that doesn't happen.

😂 get bent. You don't get to just redefine "racism" every 5 years.

I hope its Michael Noble. The storyline demands it.

^ good one. You said something stupid, I explained why it was stupid and your general lack of coherent knowledge on the topic and you got nothing

Anyway, some polling on the race

Not going along with constant retconning of terms isn't stupidity. I know you probably don't care, but English words have concrete meanings and such. Stick to them or don't use them at all.

Steve Roberts? Can anyone enlighten me as to what he has done relative to this position that implies he will be successful?

That is literally untrue. Language/words evolve constantly, even in English.

Nothing. He worked for the CA for a short stint, but that means little as Gardner also did. While there, he was accused of sexual misconduct. He was also accused of sexual misconduct later, too, so seems to be a recurring theme. The CA really needs to be someone who is a practicing attorney, not a career politician.

Yeah, I still don't know he managed to get out of the sexual assault charges so easily; right at the height of the Me Too movement, too. He clearly has someone watching his back.

It has officially hit the fan...

KMOX: St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner has resigned

I was listening to the press conference a moment ago, and I honestly have never heard anything more chaotic or by the seat of their pants. Sounds like Kim quit and bequeathed her office to Wesley Bell and STL County. Prosecutor Bell's spokesman was giving the press conference. However, he wasn't sure if Bell actually had the legal authorization to take over the office. He said they're ready to go, that they have a bunch of prosecutors and warrant officers ready to step in and get the office running again, but he wasn't sure if the Governor would authorize them to proceed.

It also sounds like Gardner and Bell had been talking about a transition for some time. But, Bell's office was apparently NOT thinking they were going to get control of the CAO today. Gardner just up and resigned, and Bell's left trying to figure out what to do now.

I don't think, at the time I'm typing this, that the City of Saint Louis has a prosecutor in the 22nd Circuit.

If the building had been bombed by terrorists, I'm not sure it would be worse than it is this exact moment.

Godspeed, Wesley Bell. And Kim Gardner, get bent.

wow, her time in office has been nothing short of horrendous and our city has never been as unsafe than it was with her in office.

We should all breath a sigh of relief that she gone.. I just wish she had left in a more organized fashion.

Lest we forget, there are a few posters here who have defended her, even in the slightest, the last several months. Shame on you! She is nothing short of incompetent, evil, and greedy. I hope she goes down in the annals of STL history with Tony Banks and his dog felony.

I don't know that she's evil, but I do find it curious that she would resign on the day that the Missouri state auditor was scheduled to come after her for not complying with the office's requests for documents.

I can't help but wonder what they might find.

https://www.ksdk.com/article/news/polit ... 8f950fdcfe

ST. LOUIS — Missouri State Auditor Scott Fitzpatrick said he will continue an ongoing audit of former St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner and the office despite her abrupt resignation earlier this week.

Fitzpatrick also claimed that Gardner chose to resign on Tuesday knowing it was the day his office was prepared to enforce a records subpoena in court.

"One way or another, Kim Gardner will have to answer for her time as Circuit Attorney," Fitzpatrick said in a Thursday statement, accusing her of making numerous attempts to ignore and delay the release of requested records. "Her sudden resignation doesn't negate the duty my office has to make sure the St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office is transparent and accountable."
.................

"Kim Gardner has repeatedly stood in the way of our efforts to complete the audit that was requested by the Board of Aldermen and the people of St. Louis," Fitzpatrick said. "Before she resigned from office we were prepared to petition the court to enforce a subpoena that was first issued over two and a half months ago to obtain the documents we need to complete our work. She knew we were prepared to enforce the subpoena in court on May 16 and chose to resign on that exact day.

"Even with her decision to step away earlier than expected, we have a duty to the people of St. Louis to complete our assessment of the performance of the Circuity Attorney's Office. We're hopeful the new circuit attorney will work in good faith with us to ensure we can finish the audit without further delay."
Fitzpatrick added that if the new circuit attorney doesn't have access to needed records, his office is prepared to take "any and all steps necessary, including additional subpoenas and petitions in court, to obtain the needed documents from Kim Gardner directly."

Yeah i just hate overheated rhetoric.  Audit should go forward.  Maybe they'll prove she's a baby eating pedo and I'll be open to filing her into the very exclusive club of people i would go so far as to call "evil".

Beyond evil. Because of her incompetence and laziness, numerous families have lost loved ones by repeat felony offenders. Additionally, many arrested individuals are languishing in prison because her schittily-run office continually can’t produce a lawyer to prosecute a case:

EVIL

Lots of peoples jobs are important.  If they don't do them or do them well, people can get hurt or die.  Doesn't make them evil to me but you do you, I guess.

I'm glad Gardner is gone and I wish our replacement CA the best. But it's time to move on. Compare the amount of ink (or bandwidth) spent on Gardner vs. That of former St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney Tim Lohmar. The latter was arrested for DUI last summer. Was accused by the local LEO of waving a badge to get out of it. Went on to win reelection without opposition. Then resigned a few months later with no real explanation.
