So we had my work holiday party at The Rec Hall in St. Charles today. I was a little underwhelmed by the place compared to Westport Social and Dogwood Social. I don't know. Just seemed like little more than a gym with a plywood bar.

I’d be curious if they paved over the entire thing, or just the parcel that included the old warehouse closest to the Armory. Phase I was originally outside of that footprint:
Was hard to see on my evening metro commute but the area where you have the yellow box didn’t look to be asphalt yet. Everything else was definitely asphalt though.

I just drove by on the ramp next to it. I would say a majority of the yellow box is parking lot. Some on the south side might still be a pile of dirt.

I'm talking up PuttShack for next year.
I don't think that's the same company doing this anymore. Similar concept, but not the same people.
Once again I ask what is this suppose to be? A Tv watching lounge?
Main level is a massive indoor backyard games + fest. Huge screens for added sports watching. All main floor components can be stowed, turning the space into a 4,000 cap concert hall with Martin sound and lighting rigs in house. Lower floor comes later (spring) featuring a huge roller skating rink, nightclub and outdoor patio space. I believe the downstairs concepts will have separate entry and basically stand alone from the upstairs facility. Also separate spaces rentable for corporate or private functions.
The development makes more sense knowing that there is more on the way.
It looks like a nice space -- and the foods looks surprisingly good. The former owner of St. Louis Wing Co., which was awesome, is going to be the Armory chef.
Future phases with five more venues, with details to be announced next year, are to open in the spring in the basement level and in rooftop space that’s comparable in size to the main level. In the future, a Tennis Hall of Fame will be located at the site to honor the Armory’s history hosting tennis tournaments, along with the Moto Museum, which features motorcycles.
Moto Museum to the Armory? First I've heard of this.
It looks way better than expected. That screen looks bigger than the one at BPV.

It is. BPV's main inside TV is only a 40 foot LED. The Armory's TV size isn't directly listed anywhere (that I've read at least - only that it's "giant") but the stage directly in front of it that's the same width as the TV itself is 60 feet wide. So it definitely is. That said, I think we all agree that TV size really won't make or break anything, though it is a fun comparison point.

I don't understand why you’re having such a hard time with this. It’s BPV with games and a better indoor stage. It looks like a fun place to watch a sporting event, take in a concert, or just chill on cold day in February and do some day drinking with the boyz.

The Moro Museum moving here is interesting. I think it reinforces the emerging relationship Steve Smith and Green Street are beginning to have as neighbors. Both the Foundry and Armory can mutually benefit from each other’s existence.

Ok but it is sort of bonkers. Corn hole and ping pong or nice add for a Louge but teeter totter and curly slide seem gimmicky and sort of ridiculous. I mean either go full Pee Wee's playhouse or don't at all. Of course, based on my reference to Pee Wee's playhouse, I am about 20 years out of knowing what's actually cool (if I ever did) so good luck, I guess.
Moto museum is neat, never been so not sure how much space it takes up.
I can't wait until this random colors and splash art trend for interior design ends. This is such a beautiful building, but the layout looks like a Kindergarten classroom for drunk adults.
^Did you just accidentally craft their first sales pitch? Because this kindergarten classroom for drunk adults idea sounds like a winner if you asked me. Story time. Nap time. Couches. Crayons. Building blocks. Booze. Recess . . . I don't see how this possibly looses.
(The City Museum might already have a TM on that, but if they don't . . . )
I am curious what their long-term solution for parking is going to entail now that the basement is being used for more bar concepts. As of now they are using a massive surface lot to the east in the footprint of the buildings that were torn down, but isn't there a development slated to start here soon? Is that still happening?
Until they build the footbridge to the Foundry there really isn't another location for people to park, and I can guarantee that 99% of the people coming here won't be using public transportation.
If this area is going to be the urban paradise that it aspires to be, the Spring Ave footbridge over 64 needs to be built ASAP. Theresa should have a footbridge as well crossing the tracks to connected Steelcote. If Iron Hill gets going again then Prospect could use a bridge but that's a much lower priority at this point.

Plus I'm curious how the SLU students are getting over there? Yes, that's walkable: but a sh*tty walk.
