Looks like the Lambert website has been hacked?  When I attempt to go there my internet service provider says this is a malicious site.
The Russians have been doing it for a while.

They posted something about it on Facebook the other day. Said they'd have it back up and running ASAP. Went and looked and it seems to be working now.

This is why we (STL International Airport) needs to keep Southwest happy with the new airport plan... their connecting hub in this city is big and we want to keep it that way.  I am sure STL understands that perfectly.

Well that's probably why they'll be moved last and get a large chunk of the new terminal to themselves. Sure, having your "own" is great, but it's a pain in the ass in so many ways.

Spirit... the greyhound of the sky.

Note:

"While it's noteworthy that Spirit is cutting so many routes in a single schedule update, these adjustments aren't necessarily permanent. The airline expects to reenter most, if not all, of these routes in the coming months, as confirmed by a carrier spokesperson.

It's also possible that the supply chain issues that have plagued the industry throughout the pandemic are affecting Spirit's ability to operate some of these routes. From delayed aircraft deliveries to low stock of spare parts, airlines largely haven't been able to operate at 100% capacity in recent months."

Nice knowing we already have our flight. If this happened and we didn’t, people would lose it. Haha

If you think there is angst here, check out the message boards for our western neighbor, KC. People there want their airport officials fired as they were led to believe that TATL service was forthcoming and that BA would be the carrier.  At this point, they'd be happy to have Iceland Air service return.

Business community is who the should be blaming. The airport can hardly offer anything, some fee waivers. Businesses are who need to step up.

I’m officially like that old guy that keeps talking about the glory days: The World’s Fair, Stan Musial, Gas Light Square, etc..

…except it’s 1980/90s TWA: London, Paris, Frankfurt, Honolulu, Anchorage, St. John’s….even Tokyo before they pulled the plug.

I’m glad for Frankfurt, but that’s the beginning, not the end goal.

PostNov 17, 2022#7493

Not sure if I posted this before, but it was based on an article/video I think GC posted about a potential Spirit/Jet Blue merger and the need for a Midwestern hub.

Jet Blue has some interesting partners, three of which are: American (OneWorld with BA), Cape Air and Hawaiian Airlines. Hawaiian Airlines is also a partner of United’s/LH’s Miles and More.
Since there is no direct flight from Europe to Hawaii, you have to connect/change to a domestic carrier in the Continental US. So I’m seeing the this London/Frankfurt/Honolulu connection at JetBlue’s Lambert hub.

Man, that’s a lot ‘threading-five-needles’ daydreaming, but that’s my hobby.

If they are indeed in the market, STL needs to court JetBlue with everything it's got. Fortunately we have the advantage of the fact that we are rebuilding our airport from scratch, and we are early on in the design process.

How many potential suitors have the ability to literally design their airport to the exact specifications of a carrier like we do? The possibilities are endless

My favorite are the condescending comments regarding Cincinnati’s economy. This idea that KC is lapping it’s peers or performing at a Nashville or Denver growth rate.

STL could be well positioned to make a case for having JetBlue start up a base here and help facilitate a Midwestern hub/focus city operation. A new terminal due to kick off in a few years, the geographic proximity to major Midwestern markets and a demonstrative history of supporting large operations could help steer Jetblue into our corner and start a (hopefully) fruitful endeavor. The big hiccup here is what will Southwest think or perceive if we were to court Jetblue. I don't really see a whole lot of overlap in routes and markets but if such a move were to take place, would it stifle an expansion of operations for Southwest or would the status quo remain?

^Mind you, I have no particular reason to think JetBlue is looking to open a mid-continent hub beyond the fact they don't presently have one. But if they are and they were to open it I would gladly take a hit on Southwest's offerings, since JetBlue seems to offer a real business class product, they partner with other carriers, and they fly overseas. I'm glad Southwest is here offering service, but in the end they're no use to me at all. And their opportunity for growth is pretty limited since they're married to their single type rating/everybody flies everything model. I figure Shadrach's fantasy is a fantasy, but I like it. Man, I'd love to see the day someone actually takes a solid step above Southwest. Any of the legacy carriers would do nicely, but barring that JetBlue might just be the ticket.

Oh for sure! I know that the business community would prefer to use JetBlue should they start and expand operations here, but a part of me also wouldn't want to blow up what we already have with Southwest at the expense of something else. I don't know, maybe I'm just overthinking everything (especially since there's no current plans for JetBlue to expand into the Midwest). That being said, I would love to see a dual hub-type setup in the new terminal and hopefully give the authority a reason for a potential phase 2 expansion of the terminal should it ever get to that point. It would help to serve the two major types of travelers: business and leisure/vacation travelers, and would help to grow passenger numbers YOY thus putting STL back on the map especially with non-U.S. airlines who might want to expand their US offerings.

On a separate note, will the Spirit/JetBlue merger mean the end of the Northeast Alliance? My initial uneducated thought here is that JetBlue could just pick up the gates at East Coast airports where Spirit has a presence post-merger and continue to do business as usual but without American's help anymore. Feel free to educate me if I'm not correct or missing crucial info.

Cincinnati — not St. Louis — gets British Airways flight to London
https://www.bizjournals.com/stlouis/new ... 4nd08tUqXg

Love how the BJ is framing this as a loss for St. Louis haha.

Also, for the western Missouri crowd…step up your game.
Among the Cincinnati companies with a presence in the United Kingdom are Procter & Gamble, General Electric and CTI. The region has 450 foreign-owned firms, said REDI Cincinnati CEO Kimm Lauterbach.
Probably helps that Cincinnati has a legit business community that includes 7 Fortune 500 HQs, some of which include this country’s biggest corporate brands. KC has one company on that list and I bet 95% of Americans have never heard of Seaboard.
