^Anyone recognize that archway with the clock at the top? One of the downtown hotels? Lovely building. And a neat story and I'm glad they had a good time.

^You know, you're probably right. I've even been in there (as the guest of a friend), but it was so many years ago I quite forgot. Fits the style, at least.

Definitely the Missouri Athletic Club.
A lot of people love St. Louis when they visit and are usually very impressed. With better presentation and marketing, St. Louis would be a much larger tourist hub.

^Agree! Meanwhile you have Boomer Bob and Boomer Barb who constantly complain on Nextdoor that "no one goes downtown because of the crime" and "there's nothing for tourists to do" when they haven't been DT except for maybe 9 innings of a Cards game since 1993.
I love it when they reference some time period decades in the past as better, yet crime was worse then.

Some sad news for the Business Journal, they’ll need to delete their draft of Peabody leaving downtown, the company just extended its lease.

Good news actually. Glad to hear it.

Wasn't disclosed. No comment from Peabody or the building owner, but would be fair to assume some reduction.

Is it okay if I hope Peabody finds a way to move into new lines of energy production? I want to see them succeed . . . at something that helps more people and hurts fewer. (And I say this as an affirmed lover of coal burning steam locomotives. You cannot beat coal smoke. The stuff just smells great. As it rubs its back upon the cheeks, and seeing that it's a soft October night curls once around the chest and falls asleep.)

Despite concerns of violence, downtown’s office market has remained relatively stable. The area reported a 17.7% vacancy rate in the second quarter of the year, a figure that has remained flat compared to the same period in 2021, according to research from commercial real estate firm CBRE.
Briar Meads Capital, a New York real estate investment firm, acquired 400,000-square-foot Peabody Plaza in 2020 for $35 million. Over the past two years, Briar Meads has scored nearly 10 new tenants, including architecture firm Arcturis, law firm HeplerBroom, and cafes Ukraft and Windows on Kiener Plaza.

I was downtown Wednesday night and it was really active. Like a real city. I think the cards were playing and there is /was a convention but things were busy from the river to 14th. Great to see.

Is it another MLM scheme convention because the Beachbody Summit one was huge
Based on the type of people I saw around downtown this week it definitely looked MLM-ey

The Green Onion Cafe is opening in the old Java Plus space at 500 N. Broadway.
They must have had some sort of fancy dress ball Saturday night at either the Marriott or the convention center. Lots of women in sparkly gowns and men in suits/tuxes.dbInSouthCity wrote: ↑Sep 10, 2022Is it another MLM scheme convention because the Beachbody Summit one was huge
I did find it interesting that convention center personnel were taking down all exterior banners and signage on Sunday morning.

Anyone know the status of the 7th Street Corrider improvements? It is really insane how long it takes in this town to say, hey we decided on an idea and then actually implementing. Whatever is driving that should be examined.
Tucker redo, Tower Grove connector both also taking very long.

Funds are there but somehow this city admin shows their lack in managing funds!!mjbais1489 wrote:Anyone know the status of the 7th Street Corrider improvements?
