I get the concern they have for assuring the food goes to the right mouths but i am certain it is misguided. Childless adults aren't getting free kid lunches and selling them on the streets to buy drugs. 99% of those lunches went to feed kids. If you want to feed kids that need fed, it seems like a good way to do it.
I thought John Woods almost explicitly stated goal was to ensure Greitens didn't get elected. With Greitens out he is in the way of more establishment republican Schmidt of keeping the governor seat. Sounds like mission accomplished.

Focusing on the tax side of the equation is just falling for billionaires' con games. The question is what level of services you think are necessary. Politicians always claim that the taxes will be offset by "cutting wasteful spending" but they only get away with it because they dodge the issue of identifying what they consider a waste (educating children, maintaining roads, etc.). Or they'll take an important service like studying essential pollinator breeding to support local farms, and call it "pervert bee pornography" or something to justify spending cuts.
Ultimately for a given level of services the money has to come from somewhere, and the donors want it to come from us and not from them, hence the preference for consumption taxes rather than income taxes.
Heaven forbid the state of Missouri collect an adequate amount of revenue to spend on necessary services!

It's very important to make poverty as punishing as possible. Cruelty is the cudgel that coerces people into accepting the underpaid, alienating work that enriches billionaires. ^Yes the narrative of a "red wave" election appears to be completely undone by the Dobbs decision. The NY special election yesterday would have been a slam dunk for the GOP if we were truly looking at a wave election against the party in power. It was the swingiest of districts (went to Trump by 5 in 2016 and Biden by 2 in 2020) and the Democrat outperformed the 2020 results and won it by 4.
The CW in the three weeks since Schmitt disposed of Greitens has been that he will easily walk into the MO Senate seat. That's probably still where the smart money sits but Busch-Valentine could make it competitive with enough new registrations and post Dobbs motivation. Time (and Busch $$) will tell.

Assuming Missouri Republicans don't manage to find a way to kill the initiative process, how long do you think it might be before Missouri can force the Roe v. Wade discussion onto the ballot and vote on this like Kansas? Any guesses?

I don't think it can. I think it has to be on a state primary or general election day. So Aug or Nov 2024.

So I understand that to vote in Missouri in November, a government issued photo ID will be required for the first time.
My wife and I have drivers licenses, but we moved last year, so the address on our drivers license is our old address. We only moved one block, so we vote in the same place as always. The election office has our new address and sends us election notices. We were afraid poll workers would see that the election roll address doesn't match our driver's license address.
So we went to the DMV this morning to have them send us new driver's licenses with our new address on them. We already have real-id stars on current licenses, but we brought passports, utility bills, SS stuff, and a mailing from St. Louis County Property Dept acknowledging our new address, etc, After standing in line at Des Peres for about half an hour, we were told we didn't bring the right proof. The utility bill was not less than 90 days old, (not even sure we get those bills more often), even though the St. Louis County letter had our new address on it, they noticed it was mailed to our old address, so no. Passports don't have addresses on them. SS docs were OK, but DMV needs to have 2 things documenting our address, and that was just one. Our mortgage only had my name, not my wife's, so we left it at home. Bottom line, they apologized, gave us back our current licenses with the wrong address, and threw us out.
This so weird. We're standing there with 2 forms of photo ID, (passports and current drivers licenses) telling them our new address, but they are essential saying they don't believe us. We must be terrorists trying to pull a fast one. Our current old licenses with the wrong address will still work fine at the airport. We update all our other government addresses on line, such as taxes, property, etc. We even updated the DMV online with our new address -- we just need the new cards. But the DMV rules assume we're lying about where we live. Not sure we'll go back and stand in line for half an hour again.
So will our passports work for voter ID in Missouri so we can vote? Or do poll workers need to see a photo ID with a correct home address to allow us to vote?

I've been voting with my current license from 5-6 years ago that's had the wrong address on it for years without issue in all sorts of elections (local, primary, federal). They don't really check it other than to make sure the name/picture matches you and I think they scan the barcode on it. Otherwise, they don't care.
Helps to also have a STL County voter ID card, which is a third address that I no longer live at that matches neither my license nor my current address. You should be fine as long as you've reported your current address to the County.
