AA updated their November schedule.
Boston moved to E175s. Not all that surprising with demand down in winter. Hopefully keeps it twice a day this way.
Cancun has been pulled. Still in the schedule for Dec-March but we will see when the December update comes if it is still there or not.

How a Merged Spirit and JetBlue Could Compete Against the Big Four U.S. Airlines | WSJ
They are saying the bigger Jet Blue could be in need of a new hub. "searching for a focus city of material size in the middle of the country"
Could be an interesting play with our new terminal around the corner.

^Could be. I'd anticipate we'd better have our new terminal plans approved before we can make a real attempt to secure them a big slice of it. That said, we have time in our favor here. JetBlue and Spirit's merger will likely take place in 2024. They'll first consolidate their existing combined routes, with JetBlue getting new routes from what they don't already have in overlap with Spirit's existing routes. After that, more serious conversations can take place on attracting them to STL, ones where actual commitments take place. Right now, everything worth discussing remains in the theoretical: we may have a new terminal for what still must be approved as a merged JetBlue/Spirit airline. Once the new terminal is approved (with construction underway) and the JetBlue/Spirit merger is approved, we can maybe see something happen.
That all said, I really, really hope everyone at Lambert AND Greater STL get to talking with JetBlue about this WSJ idea.

I hadn’t seen that good find. Good to see the first airlines could move in this decade.ldai_phs wrote: ↑Aug 30, 2022Was this posted before?

Great stuff Idai_phs! Thank you.
Should be something to see everyone consolidated to C and D while this is going on. That'll almost be a taste of the old days AND what is to come.
I didn't expect them to start with the new road layout. Not surprised though, they probably get more complaints about confusing roads than anything else. Redoing the roads isn't a useless project but the complaints won't go away. We got a hint of this road layout with previous documents but this is way more detailed. I get it but I don't love that the new entrance faces away from the city core. It only adds on a few minutes when coming from downtown or Clayton but it's not insignificant. There seem to be exits toward the south and east but the only entrance is from the west.ldai_phs wrote: ↑Aug 30, 2022Was this posted before?

Other than that, I think this is the exact phasing that was predicted on here. Exciting stuff.
^ I wonder if they’re timing the roadway improvements with MoDot’s plans to rebuild/reconfigure I-70 in this area. I think they start that around 2026ish.

If I recall correctly, their logic was that they need more distance to separate decision points from one another, and that the only way they could get it was from the west. (And it was somehow important to get everyone entering the same way.) I'd think a secret shortcut would be nice, but maybe that's too costly or would complicate everything else too much. Anyway, I agree with you, but I will live with it since I can understand the logic behind it and I know that all my friends complain about it, and I have to admit I've missed turns more than once myself, even though I've been going out there fairly regularly for a very long time.aprice wrote: ↑Aug 30, 2022I didn't expect them to start with the new road layout. I think they're actually planning to start with the taxiway and apron improvements, aren't they? Or did I miss something. In the original presentation I think the field layout improvements were phase 1, the roadway phase 2, and the terminal phase 3. I'll have to go back and look. Anyway, I'm excited to see this go forward, even if I will deeply miss being able to walk where TWA once trod.
While I miss the old heydays of TWA and having tons of flight options, I will never weep for the felt like a mile trudge to/from the ends of Terminals C and D.symphonicpoet wrote: ↑Aug 30, 2022If I recall correctly, their logic was that they need more distance to separate decision points from one another, and that the only way they could get it was from the west. hmm. My first inclination is it would be better to build a new landside facility roughly where the garage is and repurpose the domes for secure side commercial concessions space. Not 100% sure that makes sense but that's my gut. I realize that maybe the need for large landside areas is maybe less than it used to be because of electronic check-in and TSA precheck services. Still the current domes seem like a tight fit for all that.
Also, kind of dumb reason, but for me i suggest this partly because, it always bugs me you can barely see the terminal from the highway, because it is obscured by the road approach mess and garage from a lot of angles.
The garage could be moved to the general area were the Naval Reserve and Marine Reserves are assuming they could come up with some kind of land deal. I would think they could relocate anywhere nearby as they are not actually a flying squadron. Also seems like getting some of the services (garage) off the current footprint would help deconflict the construction and lower costs for some other aspects.

Is there a reason that Navy/Marines land is treated as untouchable?STLEnginerd wrote: ↑Aug 30, 2022The garage could be moved to the general area were the Naval Reserve and Marine Reserves are assuming they could come up with some kind of land deal. Only thing i can think of is there is not an obvious path to acquiring it.
I would think you could work it through congressmen and senators though assuming they support your aims. Since its the DOD it will probably get bogged in bureaucracy. You would think they would have worked something out a decade ago.

I don't blame you. But I loved that hike: the moving walkways, the sea of people, the hustle and commotion. It was wonderful. Felt like the big time. Just . . . call me crazy. It's okay. (I even loved how crowded the garage could get and all the traffic in and out.)dweebe wrote: ↑Aug 30, 2022While I miss the old heydays of TWA and having tons of flight options, I will never weep for the felt like a mile trudge to/from the ends of Terminals C and D.symphonicpoet wrote: ↑Aug 30, 2022Anyway, I'm excited to see this go forward, even if I will deeply miss being able to walk where TWA once trod.
It takes forever to get fed land sold off. If they started now they probably wouldn’t have it sold by the time they needed to. There also would be a bunch of fed organizations that would have dibs at it before the city, not that they want it, but they all would have to pass and that takes awhile.dweebe wrote: ↑Aug 30, 2022Is there a reason that Navy/Marines land is treated as untouchable?STLEnginerd wrote: ↑Aug 30, 2022The garage could be moved to the general area were the Naval Reserve and Marine Reserves are assuming they could come up with some kind of land deal. Can someone please explain the thought process behind having a “single terminal”?matguy70 wrote:News on New Airport Terminal released from Biz Journal and KSDK

I know there are a few airports in the US that have this and do it well, but also with 62 gates we would be downsizing. A little sad when you think about the fact that we just got a new intl flight. Then again almost all of the gates at the end of T1 are a ghost town. Excited to see more news about this, I love Lambert but it’s not the most exciting airport.

^ I’m not sure I’d consider going to a state of the art consolidated terminal with 62 gates “downsizing.” Sure, Lambert has capacity for 81 gates or something like that, but 10 of those are abandoned in B, 13 are abandoned in C, 8 are abandoned in D (the other 5 are relatively unused city gates) and one is abandoned in A. For actual commercial service the airport is only using about 45 of those gates…across three concourses and two terminals. That’s what sad lol. A brand new, state of the art terminal is not sad in the least bit considering the airport’s current facilities.

I just don’t get it from a convenience standpoint. I’ve heard complaints that “the walk is too far” on here. It’s not. The concourses are too narrow though.
I have heard (and made my own) complaints about long walks in terminal 2 as southwest keeps expanding down the former D gates. Also I am looking forward to the convenience of everything being in one place, it means easier transfers, greater choice of amenities/restaurants since they'll all be accessible, not having to determine which security checkpoint is the correct one. Anyone coming over on the Lufthansa flight (or future internationals) can book connections without changing terminals. It makes a lot of sense to me.JaneJacobsGhost wrote: ↑Sep 04, 2022I just don’t get it from a convenience standpoint. I’ve heard complaints that “the walk is too far” on here. It’s not.
