^Funny that they use the top of the city-owned parking garage as part of their staging area, rather than the top level of the underutilized (possibly closed?) Park Plaza garage.

I'm also curious as to what that northernmost ground floor space is going to be. It looks like the north side, next to the pedestrian alley/retail arcade, is open...

Unfortunately, I don't think there's supposed to be anything facing the alley/gangway.

Can't imagine any reason that side wouldn't be filled in by now if it was just going to be solid wall. Also, that looks like a pilaster or bearing ledge on the corner...and what else they going to use this space for, dirty linen collection? Storage?

It's such an awkward plan with those two driveways cutting through it. Hotel guests will have to go outside and walk cross a parking garage ramp to use the fitness center or conference rooms. Hotel employees will have to do the same to use the employee lockers, restrooms, and break room.

Fixed it. I used your photo to zoom in on the corner. 🙂

If I remember correctly, there will be a stairwell over there, so it may open out onto that walkway.

Yes, there is a stairwell in the northwest corner of the building, but they'll have about 3x the amount of space they need for a stairwell. Which is why I was wondering if they found an interesting use for it...plus, there are shop entrances along there.

^^Nice shot, Imran. Really helps to drive home what a tight space that is. I love to see this kind of density in our fair town. :)

Chase garage is open and utilized on a daily basis. They have done a number of refurbishments lately. Most likely underutilized at current absent larger events being held.

I never see any cars on the top deck of that garage, so it must only fill up for large events at the ballroom.

Thanks. Still not definitive, but it appears that there's going to be a sizeable opening there of some kind.

Is it connected to the Chase ballroom, or just really close to it?

I still shocks me everytime I see this and that they chose to wedge it in here. I’m happy they did, just doesn’t seem like an “STL” thing. More big city with less space.

It shouldn't. The CWE is fairly big city-ish

Agreed with many that this is exceptional land use. Design-wise I like how the facade angles away from York. It was clear from the rendering that the grey brick portion would, but I didn't realize how much all of the facade would angle in, giving it an interesting, slightly askew look.

Truly is a deep INFILL...and the AC hotel well into the block off Lindell. The only people who see this mid par hotel will be the patrons themselves. So, to the rest of us , it means little as we local STL -ans...may never see this establishment. Tho I look forward to the finish of Lux Lvings fast dashing construct of now 6 large residential complexes for the rich young desperate homeless on my street alone, having 3 new residential blocks..on Pershing Avenue alone!!  THUS..Cancelling the regular bus route so many on my street depend On!! It is overboard and now needs to  finish.

Apparently someone at Marriott thinks that the new St. Louis AC Hotel's location could be described as either Central or the West End: 🙂

AC Hotel St. Louis Central/West End

Wherever it is, they say it will open in December.
