In many ways AC is a more sophisticated Aloft 2.0 if you look at how the properties are operated and where they are located. The AC brand only has a cocktail lounge serving a few small plates (versus a full service or serveral restaurant concepts) in addition to breakfast and also doesn’t have as expansive conference and ballroom facilities.

There are several around South Florida (Aventura & Miami Beach) in addition to two fairly close by in Medford & [West] Cambridge, MA. Overall should be a good fit for Clayton all the hotel options are pretty crummy as it is.

I wonder if they are redoing the entrance to that garage and the metro. How it is in the pic is not how it is now. The ramp extends further. Either the pic isn't accurate or they are reworking it.
^I think it's probably just a crude rendering of the garage's stairwell entrance, and an intentionally inaccurate and shortened ramp so as not to block the overall rendering of the new building and make it look as clean and nice as possible. I doubt any changes would be made to the garage entrance or the ramp.

A question or thought for both Clayton CBD, and CORTEX/CWE for that matter. Are the respective areas missing out on a hotel proposal with full restaurant/full kitchen and some added conference & meeting space?

Can't help to the that the Westin Hotel floated for one of Clayton own parcels would make a good fit for Clayton CBD with Centene's expansion and additional office space that at some point will come. I also can't help think that AC brand and the Aloft are nice additions to CORTEX/CWE but their seems to be a missed opportunity with at least one of the brands going up a notch.... Or is their enough respective space in the immediate area to serve small groups and business concerns

The context of my question is that last week I spent a day in a hotel conference room/small meeting space in order for a small group of us to close out a bid before an event later that day. It was so much nicer than being crammed into a hotel room around a small desk with papers spread out on beds or trying to find a quiet out of the way corner in a restaurant for an extended period of time with someone's cell phone in middle of table acting as the speaker/conference phone.

New renderings. While the first one is practically the same as the previous rendering, it removes the AC signage at the top and includes a better idea of height compared to the parking garage. The newest rendering shows a cool perspective looking up from the street. Homebase plans to begin in the Spring.

More rooms were added and the design was simplified. I don't really like this version but oh well.

According to the Business Journal, Koplar Properties is a co-developer on this. I guess Koplar is playing a role in bring the AC brand to St. Louis.

I asked around awhile ago when it seemed this deal had evaporated, and was told that this development was still in process, but that one of the original partners dropped out. I'm guessing Koplar may be the replacement for that partner. Either way, I'm glad it's back on track.

New renderings. They make the redesign look better.

The property sale closed at the end of September.  Hopefully we will see some action soon.

Anyone have any updates on this one? I assume it has been shelved since we haven't heard anything on it for a while now. It's a shame in my opinion since Clayton has quite a lot happening that could make their Downtown more vibrant over the next several years.

Relevant: Core10 Architects has this rendering on their website under the "unbuilt multifamily" tab.

It looks like it's taller now? Love the design. I hope it finally gets built.

I should've specified that I don't think that rendering is the newest version. It seems more like a concept that Core10 did a while ago, maybe back when the planning process was just starting.

This was to be the same owner/developer(s) as the York Ave. AC Hotel right, Koplars and Holloran (HomeBase)? I'd guess they'll wait until they get that open before moving on this one, especially with the current assortment of uncertainties...

Do they still own the property?

Any updates here?
There have been Environmental Operations trucks (pickups, nothing heavy) parked outside and people in and out this week.

^ I think Chris had said on another thread somewhere that this one would pick up when the AC on York finished.

York is pretty much done, so hopefully this one is next on the docket.

Developers behind AC Hotel in Clayton want to restart construction after stopping for pandemic
https://www.bizjournals.com/stlouis/new ... qt9Axk_18s
If the Clayton Board of Aldermen approves the extension request, the developers would have until June 30 to secure building permits and start construction on the hotel, which was estimated to be built for $43 million at the time of city approval. City staff recommended that aldermen approve the extension because there was “just cause for delay and for failure to meet the deadline for requesting an extension,” and no circumstances in the area have changed in a way that the project should change.

The future hotel site is directly next to the city of Clayton’s parking garage, the Shaw Park Garage, and would lease 100 spots inside it for parking. The new hotel would also be next to Clayton’s MetroLink station.

Great to see this move forward! That whole area of Clayton could use some of the energy of the more northern part.

Plans submitted to Clayton again. I imagine this is one of the steps they need to get the approval on building permits extension until June 30th. The design did not change (as expected). Koplar Properties is serving as the applicant. Homebase Partners and Concord Hospitality are the developers.

Is it known/clear what the latest iteration of the design is?

Here are the renderings from the packet submitted to Clayton. Looks nice.
