Word is that Schnucks has just about had enough with the problems at Culinaria - police incidents, theft, people acting out, losing money. Another loot or two and they just might throw in the towel.

Also Schnucks/Culinaria didn’t get looted. They don’t even have a broken window, although someone did appear to throw or crash a scooter and cracked a glass at one of their none functional doors.
Not sure what your source was or your motivation in posting this but this is a lie. As DB said, no one stepped foot in Culinaria. There's one fractured window.

I wouldn’t get on here to lie it definitely got looted and could have been worse pharmacy seemed to be hit the hardest lots of prescriptions taken

There’s actually broken glass bottles and such beer all over the floor ![]()
from what I heard it wasn’t a lot of people but enough to do damage they stole quite a bit of beer and like mentioned prescriptions from the pharmacy. I’m surprised they didn’t go haywire crazy and ransack/burn the place.

^I doubt they actually got the good stuff. That stuff is kept in locked cabinets way the heck out of sight. They might have accidentally taken some expensive cancer drugs, or AIDS drugs, maybe, but probably nothing "fun."

Here's what happened at Culinaria. A few people got in probably about a dozen. The smashed door eventually opened up allowing entry, the emergency exit door. The pharmacy was wiped out of most standing prescriptions and the cash register and other random medications, nothing that was under lock and key. Liquor near the checkout was mostly gone and any displays with liquor and chips and snacks. It's likely the looters were not familiar with the store because they did not go upstairs where they keep 99% of the liquor. Or they simply didn't have enough time.
Neighbors who live around the store came down and banded together to stop it including a few with guns. Police showed up and it was quickly squashed and the looters ran away. Employees went in early around 5AM and cleaned it up and it was in fairly good shape by 9AM opening.
The 7-11 that burned down obviously doesn't have the same type of neighbors.

Armed neighbors (probably angry and frightened) confronting rampaging looters (many of whom are also undoubtedly armed) is really not a good idea. Glad it didn't escalate.

The 7-Eleven was overrun instantaneously and also at the beginning of the vandalism. Culinaria would have also been looted, neighbors be damned, if it happened that quickly.
It's a convenience store, and a sh*tty one at that. A grocery store is a necessity.
There's nothing necessary at 7-Eleven unless you run out of food on Christmas day or something

Yeah, I don't understand how Dallas, with a similar downtown population, has more than half a dozen nice, clean 7-Elevens that are open 24/7 every 3 blocks or so.
All of our downtown C-stores are much dumpier with worse food and closed at 8 or 9pm (other than Shell, which you'd have to be crazy to visit at night).

Have a nice 7-11 10 minutes from my house. Staple of the neighborhood and unincorporated area around us. Everyone knows the cashiers who have been there since we moved to Cali
I swear 7-11s are truly reflection of the neighborhood instead of the other way around is two cent experience in my business travels. Some do standout but few and believe it is owner having a lot of pride. Very different from McDonalds which is a good go to wifi spot and most of the time clean, friendly staff even though could be dysfunction and functioning clean bathrooms no matter the neighborhood. I assume it has a lot to do with most 7-11 being franchise owned and the owners living from month to month sales driving by a lot of low margin crap and some high margin lotto tickets, cigs & booze.
^^ Agree about the overall C-store situation downtown, but 7-Eleven is headquartered in Dallas. So that could be the reason Dallas gets some special treatment. I'd also imagine Downtown Dallas has quite a bit more activity than downtown St. Louis, regardless of the residential populations.
