Reminiscent of the Renaissance Center along the river in DT Detroit.
Saw that for the first time in the paper this morning as well, very good find. Though I’m with newstl, thank god that didn’t happen.
Like other large master planned developments that were proposed for downtown, I would have been surprised had more than one or two of those towers been built...similar to the US Bank building...wasn’t there supposed to be three of those? We would have more likely lost all of Laclede’s Landing’s historic building stock and ended up with one or two of these buildings and a bunch of empty lots instead.

^But if you go to the link you get to scroll down through a series of pictures of the landing in days gone by. My personal favorite is probably a shot of a string of ex Frisco Geeps on the high line passing a game of volleyball. Dang I miss that old viaduct. It was a characterful thing. Also miss the Frisco. And the Geeps, come to think of it. Even the old BN green.

An alternate to the Taylor Family led MLS group. I'm pretty sure they claimed that they were fully prepared to go without any public funding. It came and went pretty fast, it was weird. ^Was the Taylor Family involved in the first MLS effort? I rather thought they only stepped in after it failed to attract public funding, when it looked utterly dead. The first effort really felt completely different.
But anyway, as you say, I liked both the location and that rendering quite a bit. Would have been an interesting design and a solid anchor for a place that could really use one. But I think it will all work out in the end.
But I do still like that rendering. Reminds me a good bit of Beijing's Bird's Nest.

I would think the likelihood of the following hotel proposals and projects coming to fruition (as proposed/anytime soon) is significantly threatened by the current disruption in the hospitality industry:

As of last week work was still full speed ahead on the York AC
I agree that most all of these will be delayed (hopefully not the AC on York since it’s already under construction) but is it maybe too soon to put them in the graveyard that is the Unbuilt thread?
Hopefully when things pick up again some of these will come back to life...the CVC said in an interview regarding the city holding off issuing debt for the convention center expansion that they’re already getting interest for 2023 and beyond based on that expansion being open.

Ehh - probably wasn't that big of a missed opportunity. I highly doubt this Walgreens would have been anything more than the standard concrete block building surrounded by parking. It's not like we've been missing out on a "Link in the Loop" building here for the last 30 years.
