It's behind a pay wall, but Square is "believed to be looking at locations near its current office in Cortex but also is exploring the possibility of opening a downtown office."

Maybe not the best place to post this, but bad news for Express Scripts. They're probably losing their biggest customer, representing 17% of revenues. Their stock dropped 13% yesterday.

Job cuts possible at Express Scripts. On the other hand, they claim they have money available for acquisitions.

If there are job losses, I predict they will be at the Minneapolis location. The St Louis HQ has become very much the corporate office, while Minneapolis is more the 'general' workforce. I think we'll avoid a hit on this one.

Express Scripts' market value is down by about 1/3 since the end of last year. Analysts think they could be a takeover target:

I don't even want to entertain an acquisition of ESI. They represent a very large portion of our GDP, if I'm not mistaken. The PD article is very much assumption based, IMO. It also doesn't take into account that any acquisition of Express Scripts is actually very unlikely.

A simple google search on this topic will produce a litany of articles from places like Business Insider and Barron's that all are reporting that Anthem wants to reach a resolution with ExpressScripts, albeit unlikely. None of them make any allusion to this making Express Scripts a target for acquisition, but they do say that this loss will most likely make Express Scripts move to acquire a competitor to make up for lost revenue.

This article says how ESI will more than likely ink a deal with Aetna. Aetna's contract with CVS will expire...in 2019.

Either way, thanks to the PD for giving me heart failure at 3 AM.

Since this thread is mostly bad news, here's good news- Emerson just completed one of it's largest acquisitions.

Aetna is taking a page from Walgreens. When ESI and Walgreens had a dispute years ago, Walgreens threatened to pull out. Ultimately, they made a deal. Eventually though, Walgreens went its separate way - I believe forming its own (or a joint) PBM.

I would love to see St Louis go after Kellogg's in Battle Creek, MI, or another Fortune 500 that's based in a small town. I'm surprised Greitens hasn't been going after these types of corporations.

The St. Louis Bunge is already a subsidiary of a larger multi-national company HQ'ed and controlled from elsewhere - just Iike Nestle-Purina or AB-InBev - but yeah, these transactions rarely seem to turn out well.

I'm surprised we haven't seen any acquisition activity from energizer or edgewell. I figured after the split at least one of them (especially whomever wound up less leveraged) would go on a shopping spree. Hopefully that's still in the cards.

Pretty good follow up article in PD explaining some of the driving forces behind an expected wave of consolidations in the ag commodity business. Also discusses the talk that Bungee had concerning consolidating North American operations with another commodity broker as well as note who the big players are..

As Wabash noted, someone loses in consolidation. I wonder how much people at ADM should worry and if in the larger picture if St. Louis region might gain at end of day but not necessarily be anything more then a NA Headquarter location. In other words, Multi national corporation uses Bunge to gobble up other corporate assets before the privately held companies do & therefore consolidates sales & back offices in St. Louis with its strong central location, IT services and ag/seed science presence.

Monthly job numbers always seem out of whack to me IMO. Especially St Louis with some big swings in the last year without the big layoff and or job announcements.

They'd have all of BPV under development. That would have been something!
