Seems like every time theres an argument it eventually leads to a death. Can people agree to disagree anymore without taking a life?
I feel bad for Metro cause they seem to be caught in this never ending epidemic of senseless slayings!
Im not sure what a state of emergency will do to deter people from taking another life its the society we live in which can be pretty pathetic.
By the way St.Louis area unemployment rate is now at a 16 year low and crime seems to be higher than ever.

Unemployment doesn't equal more crime. Inflation does.

Well, I mean, the millions of people in the area who don't commit homicides can.

I do think this has become a cultural problem. Watch the Interrupters about Chicago violence and you see that it is a constant stream of killing each other to deal with vendettas.

There's a billboard at Page and Kienlen that says something like "I understand, son, now put down the pistol. Your small beef doesn't have to turn into gun play".

The obviousness of that reminds me of the "Don't Shake Your Baby" and "Spend Time With Your Kids" posters on Metrolink.

Humans have practically single handedly destroyed a lot of things this is far more than the petty gun violence that goes on my main concern is that humans are nearly destroying themselves. All the petty gun violence that goes on in this country is very unnecessary inexcusable and has become a near epidemic. Kids futures are literally jeopardize because there seems to be a endless supply of idiots and births to nowhere yet these same people seem to promote this type of behavior and congratulate it.
We often say well jobs education and transportation are the keys to fixing this problem however I'm starting to beg to differ and believe these people could give a damn less about anyone but themselves. I no longer will make no excuses on why these people go out and do such despicable things to only get away with it.
I'm beyond tired of the sorry well he or she was a good person save it for someone in need of a salami and cheese sandwich these people were never good people and the ones that follow their lead are not good people enough of the nonsense and games.
A few days ago a bullet randomly gone through my passenger side car window though my car had taken the brunt of the damage by it being parked where it had been may have saved a life.
This is why I'm done showing any further emotion for these idiots.

When you compare the level of violence in a peer city like Cincy to Saint Louis, it really hits home how bad things are here:

A bloody year so far in Cincinnati
http://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/po ... 100143002/

The first three months of this year already were on course to become Cincinnati’s bloodiest in a decade when the shooting started at the Cameo nightclub on March 26.

The casualty count – 15 wounded and two dead – made Cameo the worst mass shooting in city history. But it also was part of a brutal January, February and March in which 112 people across the city fell victim to gun violence..,

Overall, 16 victims of shootings in the first quarter of the year died from their wounds, and 96 survived...

Here's our data for the same period

http://www.slmpd.org/crimestats/CRM0013-BY_201703.pdf

34 homicides
508 shootings (aggravated assault/gun)

Always amazes me how bad of aim gangbangers have and how many people survive their grievous wounds.

They're probably holding their pistols sideways, trying to be "cool". The Mythbusters proved a few years ago that it's pretty much impossible to hit your target holding it like that.

Can't say I'm surprised Dotson has decided to retire. It's been quite a while since I've spoken to anyone who was in his corner. I hope Lyda is able to arrange for a national search for his replacement, although I think current law requires a promotion from within the ranks.

^It sounds like he didn't really have a choice. One of those "we mutually decided he would retire, whether he wanted to or not"

Completely unresearched and somewhat vague thought off the top of my head: Krewson and company should consider thinking outside the box (possibly very far outside the box) in any progressive and even experimental way possible as far as the next chief goes.

Overturning practically every gun control law is working out really well for Mizzurah.

Now now. We still haven't tried hanging loaded guns from every tree limb so we can just reach up and grab one and start shootings in self-defense whenever we feel anxious.

Terrible.
The criminal chaos on our open road network needs to stop. It's time for turnstiles.

The crime in STL this summer is going to be off the charts. This last week has been quite the welcome to your new job, Lyda. I hope she's up to the task because we could very well be the laughing-stock of the country this summer, if we aren't already.

What do you have to base your claims? Also, a high crime rate is not a laughing matter. It is not a joke, people are being killed. Most people view cities with horrific crime problems like Chicago, New Orleans, St Louis, Baltimore through a lens of concern. I think we all can agree on the other hand that St Louis needs to look for a new police chief of the Bill Bratton type. We need someone to come in and clean house.

Yes let's clone Bratton and bring him to STL.
