^Haven't made up my mind yet, either. I agree that the marketing for it so far has been a turn off. I'm not religiously opposed to public support for stadiums (and desperately want a MLS team), but I'm just not convinced this is the best deal the City could have negotiated. Afterall, (1) the ownership group didn't blink when it dropped its request from $80m to $60m and (2) there was no reduction in the request after MLS announced the expansion fee would be $150m and not $200m.
Although, I do think they never really thought they would get 80 mil (and they shouldn't have), I do think some of the not blinking was because they pretty much had to accept was Scott told them he would vote for or it was going to be dead. They didn't really have any say at that moment if they wanted it to keep going.

I do think they shouldn't have ever thrown out the expansion fee price initially. They should have just said they were going to pay whatever it is.

I find it interesting that members of TeamTIF and Megan Green were both bashing Prop 2 while attending the Cards game yesterday. smh.

You need a subscription but

Poll: Voters narrowly support public money for soccer stadium

I do not how this poll was done though since I do not have a subscription.

I hold Team TIF in the same regard as the Show-Me Institute. Their analysis directly reflects their bias.

how so? Cards public funding and proposed MLS public funding are very separate animals.

PostApr 03, 2017#956

^ just to follow up on that; if the argument is that b/c you go to Cardinals games you have to be in support of public funding for MLS stadium that makes no sense. I'd be supportive of Cards-like public support for MLS but that's not what is being proposed and why I'm voting no.

No. They bash the ownership group for not being city residences but voice no concern about the Dewitts or Blues Ownership groups. If you want to vote no then vote no, but don't go bash one group and celebrate the others.

If it's safe to assume that that Bill DeWitt lives in St. Louis County, then you can't criticize them for the relation between their home address and which government bodies are funding Busch Stadium as both St. Louis County and the State of Missouri are paying into Busch Stadium. As for the Blues ownership, I don't know the funding breakdown of the Kiel Center construction off hand but I've only ever heard great things about them. Overall though, this is the first I've ever heard of anyone criticizing the home addresses of the ownership group. Also, simply attending an MLB game, especially in this town, is far from celebrating the ownership group. I'm actively opposing the MLS vote but I plan to go to as many games as I can to support the city. I'm opposed to the Foundry public funding but I plan to use it and support it as much as I can. I don't want these things to fail.

Last I heard, the elder Bill DeWitt lived in Cincinnati.

I think its admirable for both sides to be passionate about how they feel, whether they were completely thoughtful about it or not. I've seen some pettiness (on both sides) and I've also seen some really amazing people caring, conversing, and believing in St. Louis - this is never a bad thing. Whether they are right or wrong we're all trying to predict the future... It isn't science. So... :) we should all try not to get discouraged regardless of the vote outcome.

Good luck to both sides tomorrow!

And my parents live in Callaway County. I'm not sure how this is relevant.

I completely agree. Regardless of what side you fall on this issue its great to see so many people passionate about the city and its direction.

I agree as well, Christine Ingrassia and Scott Ogilive have stood up for our budget and our credit rating in the past. Their support of this bill gives me hope. If the vote fails, I'll personally feel that we're moving in the right direction, sending a good message about public funding, and saving the credit rating. If the vote passes, we'll resolve an urban planning disaster and get a pretty good community benefits agreement. Whether USL or MLS, I'll keep going to soccer games in STL.

I voted for both, but not really disappointed in the result.

This BS about revitalizing anything is awful. MLB draws twice as many fans for 3 or 4x as many games per year, but look at the area around Busch Stadium. I guess it's great if you want to open a *hole bar for 81 nights a year where you charge $6 for a Bud Light, but other than that...

I'm disappointed. We would have made non productive city parcel of land productive.
