That would be interesting if they did that here but it would require a massive overhaul of the whole plave

I tweeted this the other day, but didn't get much of a response...

I heard that someone or some organization has been projecting images on the silos. Has anyone seen it or know anything about it?

Yeah, I saw some images of that. Guess they are doing it from a car.

Here's Ricardo Bofill's home and studio in Barcelona:

And a proposed art gallery in Norway:

Lighting was being tested on the silo tonight, large flower/firework-like shapes and colors, looked great. Hope something permanent is in the works.

I was seeing them test different colors, giving it a rainbow vibe. Sounds like I missed the more showy test run!

I've seen them do that a few months back. Yeah, really wish this could be a permanent installation. I remember seeing an Instagram post of the guy doing it. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Here ya go:

Raven Fox is the artist that frequently does it.

Raven Fox is an amazing visual artist. He had a big hand in creating the incredible Grand Hall display at Union Station. He recently set up the LED Christmas tree display on South Grand. He also has done temporary displays on the James S. McDonnell Planetarium and on buildings along Cherokee Street. He was a contemporary of Keith Haring while living in New York during the 1980's and pays tribute through the name of his company Radiant Studio Works.

Saint Louis is lucky to have him as a resident and contributor to our urban fabric. He does much of his work with no compensation offered which is just not acceptable.

So does he just do this on his own, or did someone/some entity hire him? Did the silo owner authorize it?

How can we make this a permanent thing?

When I rode by on Metrolink about 4pm last night there appeared to be 2 trucks and about 4 or 5 people setting up two LED strips that were on. The sun wasn't down but one was blue and one was green.

Much of it is on his own. I liken it to a modern day graffiti artist who brings things to life through visual art without defacing the canvas in any way. I do know that he has worked with a couple developers in town to create the few permanent installations that exist. A permanent install requires continued maintenance and thus a financial commitment. The one entity that was providing the lion's share of his income just recently pulled some very nasty stuff to eliminate him from the equation. Artists and capitalism have always had a hard time getting together.

This sounds like a job for the Gateway Foundation...
