NFL has a salary cap, so there's only so much an owner can do in regards to "investing" in players. Most of the playoff teams this year have lucked into franchise QB's (Brady/Rodgers/Ryan/Wilson/Manning/Prescott??). Even with continued high draft picks (Cleveland/Jacksonville), it still depends somewhat on luck...and excellent scouting.

^ Good points on players but I think your point about scouting/front office says a lot. I think Dallas owner Jerry Jones has the biggest ego in Texas by far and despise the guy but man did build a separate office/training/practice facility above and beyond anything out there. Of course that is the opposite extreme, the guy with biggest ego trying to have the biggest trophy case before he dies. But fall back on Stan K has a lot of more resources at hand to at least put his franchise in a better position than a lot of other franchises.

What did one of the things that Rams/Stan K do in St. Louis after leaving? they went out of there way to exploit contract clause to get deed on St. Louis practice field to make a quick buck on real estate

The Raiders have officially filed paperwork to move to Las Vegas. I wouldn't be surprised to see more teams getting itchy feet. Who will be the next city to get blackmailed into building a new mega-stadium?

I think Charlotte and New Orleans are up soon. Nashville isn't too far behind. Buffalo has been trying to figure out something also.

You wonder if Davis at end of day came out better than Stan K if owners approve deal...new stadium mostly financed by Nevada and a new market all to themselves to boot in sin city within easy reach of Raider Fan Base and mostly a crowd eager to show up at games unlike LA.

In the meantime, Chargers must be fuming/scheming for a way to get Raiders deal shot down and or making back room deals to be allowed to shop for new gigs outside of California. I'm still expecting San Antonio/Austin to come up a stadium plan to bring a third NFL team to Texas. Just can't make up mind if Chargers will make a play at it and or teams above. Texas Titans seems to fit the ego of most Texans

^What cities are even capable of giving out that kind of money? The minimum price of a stadium has gotten obscene. Smaller cities like Buffalo are just gonna be screwed.

Lol. Indianapolis is not relocating anytime soon. That stadium is literally just a few years old and the market is strong. And Khan has consistently invested in Jacksonville. This is nothing more than a bait click article with terrible reasoning.

I disagree about Jacksonville. Having lived there and knowing the political/socioeconomic climate of the area, it is only a matter of time before the Jags are gone. It is also hard to believe New Orleans and Buffalo, both less than half the size of St. Louis, will support 2 pro franchises each. No guarantee St. Louis will get another team, but I do see a future where metros with less than 2M can't afford to build this mega stadiums and will opt for arena sports like Hockey and Basketball. Maybe even MLS becomes a more viable sport in a generation or so.

I can totally see the Jags move to London in the next decade. I think the NFL also wants a team in Mexico City, probably from expansion. I could also see the Bills move to Toronto or start playing 2-3 games a year there. Our best bet is that the NFL wants to expand to say Mexico City or London and needs a few more teams to balance things out. Even then I don't know how it would get paid for, maybe the wounds will be healed by then.

^Well, to be fair, Vegas has thousands of tourists in town at all times. No doubt lots of the visitors would enjoy seeing a football game, along with their usual gambling, shows, etc.

But yeah, Nevada got screwed big time on this deal. It'll come back to bite them some day. As much as I love football, I'm relieved that we didn't roped into another debacle.

Vegas has well over 30million visitors a year. So at any given time they have about 100k tourists.

Yep. That'll fill a lot of seats. Especially when you consider that lots of those folks come from cities that don't have an NFL team.

^ but the real question seems to be how many new tourists will the stadium generate and how much in new $$? If it's largely tourists already in town filling up those seats and not spending a whole lot of extra $$ then that doesn't do a whole lot of good and may actually harm existing attractions.

The existing attractions are casinos that are also economic black holes if not more so, right?
