They better save that house or at least move it! Make it a part of the development. It's one if the last ones standing.

I'm really excited about this.
I drive by this intersection everyday taking my kids to Grand Center Arts Academy. And everyday for two years I've imagined a development like this on that location. And wondered why with its proximity to SLU is still vacant.

Seriously...? That's pretty extreme. Any guesstimates on how much it would cost to do? It also implies something pretty impressive would be built to make such a undertaking pay for itself.Word on the street is that they may be planning to move the house to the western edge of the site.
I suspect they would only relocate the facade and then build a new interior behind it ( like what was done with the new subway on Kingshighway ). Recreating all the interior details with pocket doors, paneling, flooring, fireplaces, staircases etc would have to be a very meticulous undertaking. More power to them though if they are capable of doing it .

This project is just north west of grand center I always worried and had doubts about the future of this building. ( a little off topic)

Back in 2003, one of the houses in the historic Parkview neighborhood at Forest Park and Skinker was moved within the neighborhood to make way for MetroLink expansion - scroll down to the bottom of the page:

Post Dispatch noted another apartment project kicking off but also including this comment about another one being cancelled because SLU decision to forward with its own housing projects. Not sure if I got the right project with the right thread. Anyone have an update? Also, not sure if their is a thread for the cornerstone apartment project that got green lighted in the article. Good article, but wish they had more or wish CORTEX had more to say on their plans.

^ I think you're correct this is the one being referenced as being cancelled. I'm not crushed to see the plug get pulled on this student housing as I believe higher quality market-rate townhomes or Art House type developments are ideal for this area.

^Agreed. If I remember correctly a, the cancelled development was primarily a student housing development with 5 and 6 bedroom apartments planned, and measured its size by "beds" as dormitories do.
I was somewhat surprised to see this quote: “No question we’re beginning to get to a point where demand is being satiated,” Cook said.
Bruce Mills had some similar commentary concerning CWE development. So it obviously has credibility behind it. But to say we're beginning to satiate demand when only a few smaller projects are open up and running seems a bit premature.
Glad to hear the 77-unit West Pine project at the ACI plastic site is moving forward.
