Its owner, Lodging Hospitality Management, remains a few weeks from picking the operator of the $45 million aquarium planned for a summer 2018 opening.

Steve O’Loughlin, LHM’s president, said the plan has gone through “a lot of iterations” but still includes a large shark tank and other features disclosed when the company announced the project in August. LHM is still discussing the aquarium project with potential operators, he said.

“We just have to pick a horse and we’ll get going,” O’Loughlin said. “We’re close.”

Don't think it's for the Aquarium but they just pulled a 1.5m permit.

Spoke with a family friend regarding this project today. They said the rumor going around is that the Aquarium is dead. No proof, but based of the lack of information and no progress, they're probably right,

They did just update their Facebook profile picture on Wednesday. So they at least seem to be semi active. Hopefully the operating party is announced soon.

Kind of sucks it is only going to be 700,000 gallon now. Still a good size but the 1,000,000 could have been something really good.

and this is why rumors should remain off the boards. I rebutted this quickly a little over a week ago after I had heard the developer was picked and I posted that.

Hey there, I was only posting to see if anyone else could either refute or confirm the rumor. No need to respond again.

The twitter for this project sent out a tweet with a picture of what the River Gallery will look like. It always says construction starts this winter. It opens in 2019.

Some news, albeit nothing earth-shattering: http://stlouis.cbslocal.com/2017/08/03/ ... -aquarium/

In short, schematics are done and PGAV is now drawing up construction plans. The shark tank will be "spectacular". And they say the St. Louis Aquarium will be the most interactive compared to other cities.

IOW, no real fish.
Just a large room with a bunch of Oculus stations where you "select your fish experience."

@AquariumSTL tweeted a link to the Newport Aquarium website to demonstrate what the shark bridge will be like:

http://www.newportaquarium.com/Things-T ... ark-Bridge

Have to say I don't quite understand the appeal. There's so much rope everywhere that the viewing is terrible, and there's really no room to stand around and view--especially if it's crowded.

Anyway, they also posted a new rendering of the entrance plaza. Looks pretty cool.

You might not understand the appeal but 2 millions people seem to like it. I'll take 2 million people coming to Union Station.
