Yeah, I know. I've tried a lot of places but I just have that special place in my heart for Imo's when I'm in St Louis. I do really love Black Thorn, though.

Broadway Oyster Bar? No, that is Cajun.

I have never been to a Soul Food restaurant, but would like to try one. I suspect you would have to go to North or East St Louis to find one. That's probably where you would find the best BBQ too.

Yeah, I figured it was cajun but there was no category. I was working backward from "that place is tasty" to "where should it go?" I will just add cajun.

Phil's BBQ on Gravois in South County is some good stuff! Better than any of the chain BBQ joints.

Wow, I haven't been in Phil's in 25+ years! It used to be good. Sounds like it still is.

Of course, nothing holds a candle to Arthur Bryant's!

Nope. Sweetie Pie's, corner of Manchester and Tower Grove in the Grove. Diner's Delite, on Compton just east of the SLU med campus. Delmonico Diner, technically "north of Delmar" but actually *on* Delmar, so pretty much in the CWE, or at least right at the boundary. Marion's St. Louis Barbecue, just at or beyond the eastern edge of the Delmar Loop.

P.S. Why is this thread in this forum?

What about the BBQ place on Broadway, just north of downtown? I've read good things about it, but drove by once on a Sat and it was closed.

Urban Living is kind of the catch-all forum for the harder-to-categorize threads. It could work in Retail too, I guess.

I believe you are referring to Smoki O's BBQ. I love that stuff. I thought they were open Saturdays, but maybe it's for lunch only.

This would have been lunch time. Maybe it was a Sunday. It's been at least 6-8 months ago.
