IMHO there are too many good places to eat in this town, and too many places with burgers just as good if not better, to tolerate mediocre service.

I said best BURGER, not service.

That might be my favorite. Some people think it's overrated, but not me.

I remain an O'Connell's stalwart, but the cheeseburgers at Side Bar are closer to home and very good in their own right.

how about some specific dishes...

the Vito sub @ Jimmy Johns (any sub that has capicola has gotta be good).

The English Ploughman's Plate (appetizer) @ The Tap Room

Jasmine Crepe @ Nadoz

bowl of Pho @ Mai Lee

Tiramisu Gelato @ The Gelateria

the buffet @ the Ameristar

wok-fried whole snapper @ Red Moon

Antipasto @ Vito's ... which they unfortunately removed from the menu

the hot plate special @ Russo's (I will order this without even looking at what the special is.... I have NEVER been disappointed in the past 4 years)

AND beef sashimi @ Sekisui (the flavor is orgasmic)

I could go on, but I'm starting to drool.

I love O'Connells burgers. If you don't like 'em med-rare, then you probably won't like O'Connells that much, IMO.

I used to eat burgers medium rare, back in the day. But now I'm scared of those bug-thingies. You know, the ones that kill you!

BTW, put me down with those people who feel O'Connel's burgers are overrated.

^ Bugs? E. Coli? What?

And I agree about O'connell's curgers...but the corned beef and hash is pretty darn good.

Yeah, I was talking about E. Coli. Medium rare steaks are probably still safe, but I just don't trust hamburger anymore, no matter how good the restaurant.

Don't get me wrong; I still eat way more burgers than I should. But now I order them medium well, just to be on the safe side. And I always eat indoors, just in case the sky is falling!

Agreed. Went there once and it was all too underwhelming and the paper plate it rested on was the icing on the cake. I mean, it was ok but raving over O'Connell's burgers seems to be something only the locals do.

I've certainly never been served on a paper plate there. I will say that I did not enjoy their O'Connell's brewed beer too much.

Ahh, well went there once about a year ago and that's how it was served... The burger was good, just not very notable to me. Tradition probably counts for a lot and that's why it's noted so often.

Interesting site below. The USDA doesn't even use a letter grading system for meats. Medium/Rare or rare burgers are so much better than Well Done (sick) burgers. I guess I'll have E Coli within two days and probably die.
