He CONSISTENTLY uses this type of violent imagery to provoke his disciples into violence. And he's a f*cking nonstop lie geyser. So I don't want to hear about the "rhetoric from both sides". There is nothing comparable coming from the left.

One day of early voting left but it seems like voters are taking advantage of it.
In the city, we should wind up with around 55,000 early votes cast... this would be nearly as many as the total votes cast in the 2021 Municipal General Election for Mayor and other races (59,000) and over 40% of total votes case for the 2020 Presidential election. (135,000). County also seems to be showing up early.

more sickening, draconian, theocratic bullsh*t from Trump and the Christian Taliban:
https://www.nytimes.com/2024/11/03/us/t ... igion.html
https://www.nytimes.com/2024/11/03/us/t ... igion.html
these people are f*cking insane. "both sides" though, 'n' everything. In his final campaign events with conservative Christian activists and politicians, Mr. Trump is promising to elevate not only their policy priorities but also their ideological influence. He says he will affirm that God made only two genders, male and female. He will create a federal task force to fight anti-Christian bias. And he will give enhanced access to conservative Christian leaders, if they elect him.
“It will be directly into the Oval Office — and me,” Mr. Trump told pastors in Georgia. “We have to save religion in this country.”
His vision of emboldened Christian power stands in stark contrast to the pluralist and feminist vision of Ms. Harris.
...
Attacking Ms. Harris on the basis of Christianity is particularly bound up in conservative evangelical views of womanhood. At a gathering for conservative Christian women on the National Mall last month, leaders prayed for the election — as they took sledgehammers to a concrete altar, which they said represented “the spirit of Ishtar,” an ancient feminine goddess.
It was “the altar of abortion, the altar of sexual immorality, the altar of pornography, the altar of transitioning of children, of mutilating them!” one leader shouted. “The altar of the goddess of the rainbow, the altar of the goddess of June and pride, the altar that has led to divorce!”
At a recent event, Ms. Harris was interrupted as she spoke about how the Supreme Court justices nominated by Mr. Trump had overturned Roe.
“Jesus is Lord,” young men in the crowd shouted back. She replied, “Oh, you guys are at the wrong rally.”
At his own rally later, Senator JD Vance, the Republican vice-presidential nominee, weighed in, “That’s right — Jesus is king.”
Asked what Mr. Vance meant, Luke Schroeder, a spokesman for the senator, wrote in a statement that “Senator Vance acknowledged the millennia-old Christian belief that Christ is King over all creation.” He added, “The Trump-Vance administration will defend religious liberties for Americans of all faiths.”
...
“This is a make-or-break election for church-state separation,” said Rachel Laser, president of Americans United for Separation of Church and State.
“The overreach is threatening our core freedoms, our equality and our democracy like never before,” she said. “The stakes are truly so high.”
For nearly a decade, right-wing Christian power has intensified, largely under Mr. Trump’s watch. He won the White House in 2016 promising that “Christianity will have power.” In 2020, federal agents used flash grenades and chemical spray to disperse racial justice protesters in Lafayette Square in Washington, before Mr. Trump walked through and brandished a Bible in front of a nearby church — a symbolic twinning of Christian and government might.
The idea that American government should be grounded in a Christian worldview found a place in Mr. Trump’s administration, as well as at the Supreme Court, state legislatures and school boards. Its strength can be seen in and outside of government, in the fall of Roe, opposition to transgender rights, push against to critical race theory, bans on books, crackdown on female preachers and move to punish women for abortion.
Even with a Democrat in the White House, Christian power strengthened its grip in Republican strongholds. The chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court invoked God in a landmark ruling declaring that frozen embryos had rights as children, imperiling in vitro fertilization. Oklahoma required that public schools teach the Bible, in an extraordinary blurring of religious instruction and public education.

I can’t wait to be sipping my mimosa when the loser Trump loses it’ll be a great elephant lifted off this countries back. Me being mixed race black father white mother I’ll never vote for a racist ever. I know what it’s like to be heckled racist slurs at & being called a fa**ot among other things. Living life should be free not controlled by others. I cast my ballots for Hillary Obama & now Harris. Being racist is not a color it’s a very ignorant narrow minded person. Be safe out there everyone come this week might become very intense Tuesday & Wednesday. If you vote for Trump you’re a loser if you vote for Jill Stein you just wasted your time & vote & still a loser. Namaste

Probably had something to do with the Des Moines Register/Selzer poll showing Harris +3 in IOWA. Could be indicator of a landslide - if IA is going to Harris, solid possibility that TX & FL do, too. Not to mention most of the "swing" states staying blue.dbInSouthCity wrote: ↑Nov 01, 2024Betting markets are catching on. Yesterday I got Harris at 40% on Kalshi, and today she’s at 46.

Hoping the Des Moines register is as good an indicator as it had been in the past. I am NOT anti republican and I have some close friends who are republicans (they feel their tax burden is less under the republicans) and I don't often talk to them about politics. However I am just so over all the blatant lies. I understand many politicians are not 100% honest, but the MAJORITY of what he says is a lie. And now I am hearing pushing Christianity from some of these more far right. Hawley included.
Sigh .. just a little over one more day.

In 2020, STL City had about 48,200 early votes and this year we clocked in at 55,507.
Total registered voters in 2024 is 223,765.
Total registered voters in 2020 was 204,212
In 2020 turn out was 66.05%: 134,866/204,212.
Same turn out in 2024 would = 147,796 votes.
(Another data point to counter the census pop lose est since 2020)

We have 20,000 more registered voters but our population has somehow shrunk? Its rhetorical.
Please let people know that the polls may “close” at 7 but provided you are in line by 7, you will be allowed to vote no matter how long it takes.

^ the final RV number will likely be lower than the 204,000 in 2020... the current count DB mentions includes a lot of inactives that ultimately will be excluded from the Registered Voter count when the final numbers are released. Board of Elections said last week the active count was 196,000, but I think that may be subject to some change. Anyway, I expect it to be much closer to 200k than 220k.

CBS' Robert Costa joined their morning show about 15 minutes ago and reported the following:
Trump plans to declare himself the winner early, especially if it appears he is leading at any point.
They have vast legal apparatus ready to go on challenges throughout the country should Harris win.
The house Republicans are ready to challenge the election again should Harris win.
Alternate electors are readied by state legislatures should Harris win.
Subversion 2.0 is in the wings, and much better organized. Not going to be just a long night, but a long 3 months.
Winter is Coming.

^^ Well damn! I was hoping DBs numbers were correct for a couple of reasons. Obviously, we all want to see our city thrive and grow in population but we also need to take the state back from the rural interests that seem to dominate Jeff City and the only way we do that is by growing our urban centers of KC and STL.

Trump won with a larger margin than even I was expecting and carried the popular vote (at least this is the case as of 2am). Republicans took control of the Senate with them on track for 56 seats (as of 2am). The House remains up in the air.
Sports betting in Missouri barely passed. Abortion amendment, no ranked choice voting, and minimum wage increase all passed as well. Casino at the Lake failed. These results show me that, once again, Missouri isn't a super red state. If it was, the Abortion amendment would've failed as would've the minimum wage increase. Sports betting would've failed too. Messaging and how the politicians frame that message is likely the key to victory in Missouri.
I'm curious to see what the pundits will say about the nation over the coming days and weeks. Did the "garbage" comment help turn out votes? Was there a hidden voter that was being overlooked? What role did different races play in this election? How did these factors play into a popular vote win?
Now the country needs to start attempting to unite a little bit more now. If all people want to do it fight each other moving forward, keep doing so. But most voters are tired of that sort of thing and want to move on.

As expected, Registered Voters wound up much lower than the 223,000 figure that included inactives, etc.. RVs dropped below 200,000 to just 196,836. And turnout was really disappointing; only 116,986 votes cast for a turnout of 59.43%. In 2020, there were 204,000 RVs, 134,000 votes cast, and a 66% turnout. It's really hard to say exactly how much of this was due to lower political enthusiasm and how much was due to population loss, but it's likely a solid combination of the two.
The County had much better results with 77% turnout fwiw.

I had mimosa’s last night & I’ll several mimosas this morning! Both of trumps presidencies are because he won against women how ironic is that? Maybe women don’t truly support each other like they should. The one thing I can stand on is being true to myself & never giving up on hope & standing up for what’s right. I’m very proud to have voted Kamala & will do it again every time she runs. I really don’t know what this will mean for the St.Louis economy the progress we’ve made what this means for metro link expansion etc. The one thing in Trumps favor is a relatively booming economy barring any pandemics either way 4 years of whatever this is meant for this country only the future knows what lies ahead for all the American people perhaps the world. I’ll not look into this as bad or worse & just live life & watch whatever unravel before my eyes & let it be. I didn’t like Trump before he ran for president & I’ll never like him so there was no reason for me to ever vote for him. I can honestly say I don’t feel hurt sad angry or disappointed I feel very calm & glad that it’s all over with & hopefully there’s a sense of normalcy if that even exists. I’ll never apologize for what I believe is right & will always stand up for what’s right. At least there won’t be any threat of violence. I’m going to go out & live the next best 4 years of my life & another 4 after that because at the end of the day life must go on.

Frankly, this line is a load of BS. The country could have united in 2021 after Trump lost. But his supporters didn't want to. So now that he appears to have won again, you want people to unite and just forget about everything. Not going to happen.Chris Stritzel wrote: ↑Nov 06, 2024Now the country needs to start attempting to unite a little bit more now. I really don't know where this take is coming from. If the country is going to unite then the incoming administration needs to reach out to the other side rather than label them enemies within, there is absolutely no chance of unity when there isn't any semblance of an olive branch visible. I see no reason to think voters are tired of conflict when they elected the most divisive candidate in modern history. Missouri is 100% a pure red state, the current GOP is a cultural movement rather than a policy one, there is no overriding idealogy of the current party and they will change their stances on a whim, it isn't about policy but they will vote for a pile of dog poop as long as it has an 'R' next to its name and pledges fealty to the dear leader.Chris Stritzel wrote: ↑Nov 06, 2024Now the country needs to start attempting to unite a little bit more now.
