This project is egg in Cordish/The Cardinals' face.
^Why? That project is, ostensibly, market-driven. This one is not.

You can see it coming out of the ground in irocktheparty's recent pics in the OPO Plaza thread.
I have recent pics from last Thursday and I will get new ones this Thursday. If I get a chance, I will post some.
Finally got around to uploading some pics. The walls are progressing up and the forms for the first floor are being put into place. The plaza is also coming along nicely as well.

I haven't been able to go downtown in ages. It's great to see this building finally above ground.
The plaza seems to be coming along nicely. I love the Chemical building in the background.

+1... Take your pick with any of the buildings in the background...truly some of our finest stock... What I would give to back working in OPO square again.
The density looks really good in the back round I agree. These projects seem to have survived the slaughter of many new projects in downtown.

I'm so excited about this project and am glad to see the construction coming along nicely.
This project is really a symbol for why I (very recently) moved here. As a green building location in the urban core amid historic structures, it's a great synthesis of the past and the future and as such is a manifestation of the amazing potential St. Louis holds.
Can't wait to see the building stretch skyward...

I froze my fingers and got some pPics from Friday afternoon 11-21-08

When I talked to one of the construction supervisors about a month ago he told me they are going to have to add another 100 to 150 feet to the top of the crane as the construction proceeds further. He also told me that under this construction technique, they pour floors about two levels below the height of the outside walls as they go up. I'm not much of a photographer and am fairly inept with computers. But, if someone were to go over to the site on a Sunday afternoon, he/she can get into the plaza site by going down the alley along the south side of the theater. From that vantage point you can get shots down into the site of the tower. It appears the ground level floor has either been poured or there are forms in place to pour it...I'm guessing the latter.
Yeah they were hard at work today. A nice sight to see Dowtown, indeed.

So is it a $40 million condo building or does it cost $40 million?
OOPS I meant 40 or 70...obviously...

ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH

DECEMBER 22, 2008 -- Despite the weak economy, Mike and Steve Roberts have broken ground on a $40 million condominium building named Roberts Tower on 8th Street downtown. A huge banner of the building with the second floor under construction below, faces the Old Post Office building, at left.
Describing it as a stealth project would be a stretch, considering it's costing about $70 million and is under construction six days a week in the middle of downtown St. Louis.

LOL. I noticed that too when I read this article. Seriously, the post has to be about the worst paper ever.
